An Elegant Tablescape in the Garden – Romantic and Beautiful

Welcome to spring in the Pacific Northwest, and an elegant tablescape in the garden – our neighbors’ garden, that is!

They have a lovely yard with lots of interesting architectural pieces and an amazing collection of plants. We often eat together on the spur of the moment, and I felt like setting a table!

Elegant Tablescape Flowers for a Garden Dinner

As usual, flowers were the inspiration for the whole table. I had been to Trader Joe’s and found these gorgeous coffee and toffee colored flowers. (Can you tell I was hungry while I was shopping?) And they were so beautiful with red roses!

The pictures don’t quite capture the true colors – the mums that look white were actually a really subtle and delicious looking mocha color. And the peachy looking ones were really more, as I say, toffee colored. Some of the pictures show the colors better than others.

They were even more beautiful with rose gold chargers, flatware, and candlesticks – they did make a very elegant tablescape.

I got these chargers and candlesticks for another elegant tablescape a while back, my Milestone Birthday Party! They always look pretty, even on an impromptu garden table.

An Elegant Place Setting for an Elegant Tablesacpe

Here’s a closeup of the place setting. I got the plates from a vintage store for a table setting competition several years ago.

I really only needed two place settings, but the pattern was so elegant that I had to get the whole set instead!

Flatware & Glassware

And here’s my favorite copper/rose gold flatware. Again. If you’ve been around for any length of time, you’ve seen it lots and lots! But it looks great on an elegant tablescape. (Or any tablescape, really!)

Here’s my usual glassware too – heavy cut glass water glasses and Riedel wine glasses.

Candles for Romance

I love candles on any table, and when I first started setting this one, there was hardly any wind at all. By the time I lighted them though, it was a different story! The candles kept blowing out, or almost blowing out. That one on the end just didn’t want to stay lit!

Maybe it’s when the sun goes down and it starts to cool off that the breeze comes up. But whatever the reason, we had some spectacular wax sculptures! I’ll definitely have to use the scrape & iron wax removal method before I wash that tablecloth!

A Perfect Elegant Tablescape for Any Occasion

As with most tables, this al fresco copper and white tablescape would be perfect for so many occasions! It would be a beautiful Mother’s Day, birthday, anniversary, or engagement tablescape, for instance. And wouldn’t those colors be gorgeous for a Valentines or Galentines tablescape? Not to mention, holidays like Easter. Just add a couple bunnies, and you’ve got it covered!

And of course, any outdoor entertaining in the spring or summer would suit this table down to the ground. It would even make a great fall tablescape, especially with those mums in the flower centerpiece arrangements.

Or if you add in some holly &/or ivy, it would be a great Christmas or Holiday tablescape. (Assuming you bring it indoors if you get cold in the winter like we do!)

Anyway, you get the gist. That’s what so great about a beautiful elegant tablescape – you can use it for any dinner party!

  1. Such a delight as always to visit with you last night, and experience the vigil of the phantom relighting candles.
Such beautiful flowers and table, and so fast! You are truly magical.
Summer is coming, lots of plate exchange evenings and impromptu table settings in our future!

    1. You guys are the best!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with me and all the Mantel and Table crew! Can’t wait for more plate exchanges and dinners to celebrate being outside with excellent friends!! Love you! 💛💛

  2. What a lovely table Barbara, and in such a beautiful backyard! How cool to have great neighbors that you can dine impromptu with – it must be so much fun. You must be really glad that you purchased the whole set of dishes instead of just two place settings – they are so pretty and would go with any number of tables. The flowers are gorgeous as usual, and what a unique combination with red, toffee, mocha, and white. I hope you had a delicious meal with your neighbors and enjoyed a wonderful evening, my friend!

    1. Thanks Kim! I know – we’re totally lucky to have won the neighbor lottery. It was like moving in next to a new family! I wish you could see the flowers in person – the colors are so much cooler. It’s so nice to have tablescaping friends who get that you just have to buy the whole set! 🤣 Thanks so much for stopping over my friend. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

    1. Hi Mary! I’ll take credit for the table, but the beautiful yard was created by my wonderful neighbors! I’m so lucky to be able to go visit over there and bask in the gorgeousness! Thanks so much for stopping over – always great to see you!

  3. Barb what a beautiful and elegant table setting and your neighbor’s yard is lovely. How energetic you are to tote your gorgeous table elements next door. I find it cumbersome to tote my dishes out the sliders in the dining room to the courtyard and out the back French doors to my Secret Garden and then afterwards tote it all back inside. 🥰LOL However, I am always glad to sit and enjoy anything al fresco. After all these years, one would think I could come up with a solution to tote it all in a wagon or something…altho navigating the stairs to the Secret Garden might prove a challenge. Your choice of flowers is excellent. So pretty and I have always been partial to creams, toffee color, caramel color…rustic I call them. Personally, I believe Trader Joe’s flowers last longer than Publix. For the Kentucky Derby table I set Tuesday, I used faux roses…not taking any chances as the table needs to look good through Saturday. Thanks for the inspiration my friend.🌸🦋👒🌷

    1. Thanks so much Kari! Ha – yes, the toting across the driveway is the not-fun part! But I had a lot of help, and my big tray does save several trips! Your stairs would pose more of a problem, but I hope you get to at least take your teacup out to the Secret Garden and enjoy your beautiful sunshine! Faux flowers are definitely the way to go if you need them to last. Loved the gorgeous roses on your Derby table – so much fun! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you have a grey horse that wins!
