Welcome to the third of our silver and gold tablescape series – A Romantic White Table Setting!

Candles on the Romantic White Table Setting

The Story So Far

You may remember a couple weeks ago, I set a table in silver and gold. The centerpiece was pink garden roses, and the whole thing was really quite playful!

Then, I promised you another table the next week, set exactly the same way. The only thing that would change would be the flowers and candles.

That one was a Warm Elegant Red Rose Tablescape, which was very different from the first. This second one was much more sophisticated and formal than our playful first table.

And then, I promised you yet another silver and gold tablescape! Set with exactly the same pieces, but once again with different flowers and candles.

And here it is! A romantic white table setting using all the same pieces as tables one and two, but achieving a whole different look!

Why “Romantic?”

There’s something about a garland that just says Romance! Maybe it’s the flowing but semi-structured shape. Maybe it’s that it recalls a secret bower. Whatever it is, you’re one step closer to romance when you use a garland for your centerpiece.

In our romantic white table setting, the garland is tender green camillia tips from the tree in our yard. The look is fresh and springy – that’s romance right there!

To get the flowing effect, I laid the tips down the middle of the table. Starting with the ends toward the center, just layer the leaves on top and move outward on each side. Fill in any bare spaces. You can make it as lacy or full, curvy or straight as you like.

White Roses For A Romantic White Table Setting

The roses are what really do it though. These are also from our garden. But say you don’t have any garden roses of your own. You can get some from a florist, the grocery store, a neighbor or friend. Or you can use faux. Those last a lot longer too!

The more open and blowsy your roses are, the more magically romantic your garland will be.

For this romantic white table setting, I only used three roses. They’re big ones, though, so they don’t look overwhelmed by the greenery.

If you have smaller roses, you might want to use more than just three. (More will give you a slightly different look, and will have its own charm, as all tablescapes do!)

When I added the roses to this garland, I put the biggest one in the middle. (By putting it as straight up as I could get it, most diners can see the particularly beautiful part.)

Then I put one about three quarters of the way down each side, facing outward. That way the people at the ends of the table could enjoy them too.

The Basic Place Setting

Even though if you’ve been around for five minutes and you’ve heard me say it a million times, I’ll say it again. I love silver and gold! And that’s what we have for the basic place setting. It’s exactly the same as the previous two tablescapes in this little series.

As you can see, the plate stack and flatware are heavy on the silver. The only gold is the decoration on the dinner and salad plates.

Because I wanted our romantic white tablescape to be warm and sparkly, I added gold votive candles. The gold candles pick up the accent in the plate stack and warm things right up. Especially when the candles are lit!

Using silver to cool a setting and gold to warm it up, is a trick I use a lot to easily change the vibe of my tables.

The Table Linens

This tablecloth is an antique white linen one I got at a local vintage shop. It has lots of detail and is perfect for a romantic white table setting. You can see the pretty and subtle textures in the photo below.

It’s a relatively small square tablecloth, so it covers more space if you turn it diagonally.

I like it that way to show a bit of the table. And i’s a fun look that brings the “white tablecloth” formality down a bit too.

Once the shops in your area open up again, you can go look for antique linens. You can often find them at very affordable prices.

I got a set of matching napkins with this tablecloth. Unfortunately, in my excitement to photograph these three different settings, I forgot to put them on the table! But you can imagine them there in whatever placement you want!

Three Tables ~ One Place Setting ~ Three Different Looks!

So there you have it! Even if you only own one set of chargers, plates, flatware, and glasses, you can set an unlimited number of unique tables!

You can see with just these three examples, how easy it is to change up the look.

Let me know what you think and how you would set a table like this. You guys are always so creative, and I love to hear from you! Thanks so much for being here!
