A Fresh Blue and Pink Tablescape For a Beautiful Spring

Welcome to the Blue and Pink Tablescape! It’s part of the Spring Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by Rita from Panoply, featuring 16 different spring tablescapes. That’s a whole lot of inspiration all in one place!

My offering for our hop is this blue and pink tablescape. I’ve been continuing my little love affair with blue – specifically this lovely pattern in the tablecloth – for quite a few weeks now, and I don’t see any sign of it slowing down anytime soon!

Pink Spring Flowers for the Blue and Pink Tablescape

One of the first things to bloom in our Pacific Northwest yard is the pink camellia bush. It’s really more like a tree – this thing is huge! I first see the soft pink blossoms appear on the house-side of the bush, just where I can see them out my office window.

And within a few days, the bush is packed full! I got this whole pile of them just standing in one place and clipping for less than 5 minutes!

Metal basket full of pink camellia branches

They say “Spring is Coming” more than almost any other flower to me! So I decided they’d be perfect for the Spring Tablescape hop table.

I made a simple flower centerpiece garland of them, just by laying them in a line down the middle of the table. (Most flowers will last several hours out of water, so just enough time for a dinner party. But if you want to keep your garland longer, you can get little clear water tubes to put each stem in.)

Just to make it more interesting, and because I love candlelight in almost any situation, I added some silver candlesticks to the centerpiece too.

The Foundation of the Blue and Pink Tablescape

The foundation for our blue and pink tablescape is, of course, this gorgeous blue tablecloth. It’s from Williams Sonoma in the Bluebell pattern designed by Morris & Co. I just love it, and maybe surprisingly, it goes with so many different styles of tablescape.

For instance, I used it here A Vibrant Blue Tablescape for Beautiful Valentine Romance for a totally different look.

The Place Setting

The place setting itself is so pretty! We’ve been serving from the kitchen so much more often these days, so I end up not putting the plates on the table. The downside to that of course, is that I don’t get to show off my beautiful china as much before dinner.

But the upside is that I get to show off my beautiful chargers more! These vintage looking silver chargers are not only one of my favorite pieces, but they’re one of Mantel and Table readers’ favorites too! People always ask me where I got them, so of course, they’re linked in the Boutique below.

Besides being beautiful, they’re really light weight and so easy to clean. And they set off the napkins in a lovely way!

Which brings us to the napkins. These are April Cornell’s La Vie En Rose, but unfortunately, they don’t make them any more. You can very occasionally find them on Etsy or another online shop, but if not, I’ve linked a similar style below. Anything pink and floral would give you this same look.

The napkin rings are ones I’ve used many times before, because they’re so pretty and so fun! They’re re-purposed spoon handles!

The Rest of the Blue and Pink Tablescape

Then of course, we have the flatware and glassware. These are also pieces that I use really often. (I was going to say all the time, but I sometimes do break out and use something different. Not very often, but sometimes!)

The water glasses are lovely cut crystal (which you can use for highballs too, if you drink those,) and some of the wine glasses are the Riedel Bordeaux shape that are my favorites.

On this table, I set two different wine glass types – they have different shapes, which do actually change the way the wine smells and tastes. (There’s science behind this, but I still wasn’t convinced until I did some blind taste tests. It’s really fascinating!)

I often set one Bordeaux and one Pinot shaped glass for each couple, so we can see what happens in the different glasses. Pretty fun, and also pretty on the table!

The flatware is the pattern my mom put in my hope chest when I was 15, and I’ve been adding to it ever since.

The Final Touch

I always think it’s so nice to bring a little touch of the table into the rest of the room, if you can. Since there was no shortage of beautiful pink camellias, I put another bunch into a blue vase on the buffet where we could see it during dinner.

Plus, I just love a reflection of the table in the buffet mirror! (Even if it is totally fuzzy!)

Other Blue & Pink Tablescape Occasions

Besides a regular dinner party tablescape, this would be a perfect table for lots of other spring and summer tablescape occasions. Mothers would love this one for Mother’s Day celebrations, it would make a perfect birthday tablescape if your birthday person loved flowers, and how about an Easter tablescape? All you’d need to do is add bunnies or eggs, and you’d be set!

If your camellias bloom early enough, or you wanted to use another branchy flower, it would be perfect for a Valentines or Galentines tablescape too.

Remember, any tablescape can inspire you, then you can change things up however you want to make it your own!

And that pretty much wraps it up with this fresh blue and pink tablescape! Here’s an overhead shot to give us the whole view!

  1. Barbara, of course blue goes with everything, but in its darker shades it’s particularly compatible with pastels. The tablecloth is gorgeous. Pink shades always seem to signal the arrival of spring and when they’re in the form of flowers it’s perfection. I was surprised when you said your camellias had begun to bloom. I have five camellias in my yard; they begin to bloom in November sequentially, finishing with the last one in March. I’ve used the flowers in bouquets but I’ve never featured them in a beautiful runner the way you did here. I think I’ll try my hand at this! Happy spring!

  2. The pink camellias are perfect flowers for your tablescape. They look so fresh and spring-like and, more importantly, they come from your own garden. Blue and white is a favorite of mind and the pink pops of color make the blue and white deeper. Love the silver napkin rings and the napkins are just lovely. You are definitely ready for spring. Wishing you a lovely spring season.

  3. Barbara, your blue and pink spring table is absolutely lovely! The soft pink camellias paired with that gorgeous blue tablecloth make such a fresh and elegant combination. I especially loved your simple camellia garland down the center with the silver candlesticks mixed in is such a beautiful way to let those blooms shine. Your floral napkins and vintage-style silver chargers add so much charm. As always, it’s a treat to hop with you again. Happy Spring!

  4. Oh my gosh Barbara – those camellias are gorgeous and what a pretty shade of pink! How great that they are growing just outside your window. They make a beautiful runner down the table and really pop against the WS bluebell tablecloth. That William Morris bluebell collection is so fab and that shade of blue goes with so many accent colors. The AC napkins look so pretty wrapped in the vintage spoon napkin rings and placed on the chargers. Your glassware is always beautiful and your flatware collection started by your mom must be so special. I hope you and your guests had a wonderful dinner at this lovely table. It’s so great hopping with you my friend and wishing you a very happy spring and fantastic Easter

    1. Thanks Kim! This table practically set itself with those camellias! Too bad it can’t clean itself up afterwards too! 🤣 Thanks so much for stopping over – it’s so fun to share these hops with you!

  5. There is so much elegance from your use of your cut camellias. Fresh cut flowers certainly make a huge difference in the look of a tablescape and you are very fortunate to have them growing outside your window. They absolutely set the stage for your lovely table especially as a contrast to your darker blue tablecloth which is stunning. I can see why you were so attracted to this tablecloth and how it could be used in various settings, like with yellow, red, light green, etc. The choices are endless with this gorgeous tablecloth. Your use of your beautiful silver pieces are exquisite. Your flatware that you received from your mom was such a lovely gift and very timeless. They pair well with the lovely silver charger plates. Your pink and blue tablescape is certainly a lovely Spring table. It captures the true essence of the blooming Spring. Happy Easter.

    1. Hi Marsha! I know – I’m so lucky my mom started me on that pattern. She was so thoughtful and had such great taste. Thanks for your color suggestions for other settings with this tablecloth – I can’t wait to try them! It’s always great to get new inspiration. So fun to share the hop. Happy Spring and see you next time!

  6. Barbara, your camellias are stunning. How lovely to bring them inside and use them for a table runner. The blue and white tablecloth from WS is lovely. Adding the pink makes the table pop. You have some wonderful crystal glassware. Candlelight is always welcome at the table. The flatware is gorgeous and so special from your Mother. Always a pleasure joining you at the table.

    1. Thanks so much Linda – I just love those camellias! Isn’t it fun to have all the memories with your various pieces? My mom’s been gone several years now, but every time I use my silver, I remember her. It IS so fun to share a hop – hope you have a lovely spring!

  7. Wow, can we just take a minute to revel in the beauty of those camellias?! I’m not sure I could grow those in my region but, boy, I sure wish I could. Those are drop-dead gorgeous, Barbara! The WS tablecloth and those flowers are so vividly colorful together, they really make the entire table pop in photos. The napkins, of course, complement the look. I love the highball crystal and the way they’re cut, such a stylish look. Thank you so much for bringing spring to life on your table by joining us in this hop, Barbara!

    1. Hi Rita! Thanks – I love those camellias too. I was so happy to see the beautiful color the first spring we lived in this house. I don’t know how long camellias live, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was planted when the house was built 100+ years ago. It’s all we can do to keep it from taking over the world! But at least I can open my 2nd floor window and clip some off the bush that’s grown right up there! 🌸Thanks so much for hosting the hop – I’m thrilled to share it with you all! Happy Spring!

  8. Barbara, the pink camellias are just the best! I love being able to cut these beauties and bring them indoors to enjoy. I lost my pink plant last summer, but have two good sized White By The Gate camellias. They were covered in beautiful white blooms when our winter storm did a number on the blooms. The snow and ice turned the white blooms into a coco colored mess. I was sad, but such is mother nature. Seeing your beautiful table truly delights. The blue and white table cloth, the elegant dish stack and flatware, and those pretty pink floral napkins really make a statement. Beautiful!
    Happy Spring! Happy Easter!

    1. Oh I’m sorry you lost your pink bush, but the White By The Gates are gorgeous too. I know we gardeners understand the ways of nature, but it is sad to lose a whole crop to the weather. Whenever it looks like it’s going to storm, I run out and grab as many of whatever’s blooming as I can to bring in and save from destruction, but you can never get them all. I’m so glad I could share my blooms with you though! Take care and Happy Spring!

  9. Barbara, the pink camellias are stunning as a table runner. The tablecloth is classic in design and so versatile for every season. I love the napkins, I have La Vie en Rose tablecloth and pillow covers, it is one of my favorite AC patterns. Your table is so pretty and I know your guest will enjoy it immensely. Happy Spring!

    1. Hi Pam – I know you love April Cornell too. I wish they still made the La Vie en Rose, but maybe it’ll come back someday – they do revive old patterns every once in a while – fingers crossed! Thanks so much for stopping over – I always love sharing a hop with you! Happy Spring, and take care till next time!

  10. Such a pretty table. The pinks are stunning against the dark blue, quite unique and inviting! I adore your water glasses! Happy Spring!

  11. Those camellias are GORGEOUS! I don’t know anything about them, but I am going to learn. I’m wondering if I couldn’t grow some here where I live in zone 6B. I container garden, so I tend to bring a lot of things in during the winter and as a consequence, I have two pots of alstroemeria that have bloomed indoors all winter long. The contrast between your darker blue tablecloth and those bold and colorful pink napkins is stunning! I really love that. I need to start going bolder than I have been. Also, I’m glad to see that someone else besides me uses more than one wine glass at a place setting.

    1. Haha – yes we use an embarrassing number of wine glasses – but I love the way they look on the table, and we always drink well! Wow your alstoemeria sounds amazing! You must be a very attentive and talented gardener to keep so many plants alive for so long. You’ve inspired me to try growing some alstroemeria now – it’s one of my favorite flowers! I think there are some cold-hardy camellia varieties that grow in zone 6. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/gardening-by-zone/zone-6/camellias-in-zone-6-gardens.htm If you try, I’d love to hear what success you have with it. Take care and Happy Spring!

  12. Barb I adore your pink camellias….just gorgeous! And to have them to view and admire out your office window is so cool. I have a beautiful rosy pink hibiscus tree/bush just outside our bedroom window and what a burst of color as I wake up and open the plantation shutters to their glory each morning. The blooms unfortunately, only last for one day but there are always more blooms to replace as they bloom continually here in Florida. Your dining room is lovely adorned with the WS Bluebell pattern tablecloth, silver chargers and candlesticks, pink & white napkins and of course the camellias down the center of your table. Definitely Spring vibes coming from the Pacific Northwest. Did I ever tell you that we lived in Seattle for 2 years before moving to Florida? I worked for Boeing and the Captain flew out of Seatac. Thank you for sharing and for all your inspiration on setting a formal table.

    1. Oh wow – that’s so cool that you lived in Seattle. It’s one of my favorite cities. I lived in Puyallup for several years, back when the boys were small, and I loved going into Seattle every chance I got! I bet you’re happier in the sunny weather now though! It’s great that you have flowers out your window too, and how lovely to wake up to them! Mine are out my office window, but always so nice to look up and see them when I take a break from work! Take care my friend – so nice sharing a hop with you!
