Welcome to this week’s Teacup Tuesday where I get to show you how I use teacups to store things!
I love to have my favorite teacups and saucers out where I can see and use them. If you’re the same way, read on. We’ll start, as usual, with the Instagram post.
Teacup Tuesday 02 June 2020
Happy Teacup Tuesday Everyone! Today’s answer to the question “What can you do with a teacup?” is “Store something in it!” Come on over to the blog and see how a teacup can be such a fun and pretty and unexpected way to add personality – and organization – to your home! Now more than ever, look for the beauty and share it with everyone!
Teacups Can Hold Wine Glass Charms
Back in the pre-virus days, we did a fair amount of entertaining. These days, I’m preparing for the eventual return of wine tastings, dinner parties, and big outdoor parties too!
Whenever we have more than a couple people with wine glasses, we always have wine charms available. However, when I just set them out on the buffet, they seem to skitter around and end up all over the place.
But if you corral them in a teacup, they stay nice and tidy! The teacup makes a great conversation piece too!
Matches in Teacups
Ok – this one has to be a demitasse cup at our house, because our matches are pretty short. But doesn’t this cup look cute on the mantel?
It’s a great way to keep the matches handy, and add some playfulness at the same time.
Teacups For Cotton Balls
I have a little dressing table in my master closet. It’s a vintage piece from my husband’s family, and it’s just darling! I love to keep it tidy, so I need places to put everything.
Like cotton balls. I use cotton balls a lot! And it’s handy to have them available (ie: not in a drawer.) Plus my pretty cup makes me happy every time I see it.
Jewelry In A Saucer
And the matching saucer is perfect to hold the jewelry I wear almost every day.
I have a jewelry drawer, but I’m usually pretty tired when bed time comes along. Especially since I’m just going to put it all back on again in the morning, I don’t want to mess with putting it all back in the proper boxes. I just want to dump my stuff on the dressing table and go to bed!
This way, I can still dump it, but now it’s in a safe place.
Plus, I love the way it looks, and it helps make it easy to keep things organized.
Bath Balls In Teacups
If there’s anything I love more than tea, it’s having tea in the tub! I take a lot of bubble baths, and use a lot of bath balls!
It’s so convenient to have them right on the edge of the tub, especially in a lovely teacup!
My bathroom is white and gold, and I like to keep pink flowers in there. So the pink, white, and gold teacup is perfect.
One of the coolest things about teacups, is there are so many different colors and styles. You can find exactly what you love, and the colors you’re looking for!
Paperclips In Teacups
For instance, I wanted something cute and delicate with pink in it for my writing desk. I use this lovely gold trimmed teacup to hold paperclips!
It’s so fun to reach into a pretty cup whenever I need to clip some papers. And it makes work feel so much more elegant!
Even Snacks In Teacups!
And last but certainly not least, you can store snacks in your teacups!
Because a teacup is usually pretty small, it’s just the right size for a snack.
When we watch movies, it’s so fun to have a pretty cup full of treats. (Milk chocolate for me, dark chocolate for my husband!)
Just one more fun way to use teacups!
Teacups Behind The Scenes
I’ll just show you one little behind-the-scenes picture, because I thought it was so funny!
I had to put the tripod actually IN the tub to get close enough to take the bath ball pictures! The things we do for a photo!

I love vintage teacups too, and want a little “mad” incorporating them into decorations, favors, and as servers for my Alice in Wonderland theme iced tea party. They hung from the chandelier, were in plantings, wreaths and much more. Thanks for the lovely imagery.

I admit, I never thought of using teacups but I do use pretty glass containers for odd uses (banana boat to hold fingertip towels, covered comport of makeup on my sink vanity, etc. Our everyday lives don’t loan themselves to a touch of class until we make an effort to include it! Enjoyed your post!
Barbara Leone says
Thanks so much Kathy! Your glass containers sound beautiful. You’re right, it’s so fun when we make a little effort! 🙂 Take care – I so appreciate you stopping by! 💗
