A Winter White Tablescape: How to Create Timeless Elegance
A beautiful winter white tablescape welcomed us to a dinner party the other evening, and I just couldn’t help myself – I had to take some pictures of it to share with you!
Our friend Cory always sets a lovely table (and her husband cooks a fabulous meal!) This one was so perfect for their January dinner party. (Plus, don’t you love that amazing wallpaper*?!)

A Winter White Tablescape
As soon as I saw it, the phrase “Winter White” popped into my head. My mom used to use that term a lot and, as a kid, I could never figure out what was so different about the winter version of the color! But I liked the romantic sound of it, so I still use it now and then.
The overall color scheme of the table, and the impression you first get when you come into the dining room, is sophisticated white. The tablecloth is really a light grey, but from across the room, it reads white. The soft colors and the openness of the table made me feel like I was taking a cozy walk in the snow on a sparkling and quiet winter night. Timelessly elegant!

The closer you get, the more sophisticated the color combination becomes. And the more the napkins and silver highlight that beautiful centerpiece.
The Centerpiece
The roses in the centerpiece are absolutely gorgeous, making this winter white tablescape stunning! But, I think it’s the red berries with them that really make the table wintery.

The simple clear glass jar vases add to the open feel. Same with the votive candles. There’s nothing here to detract from the calm and elegant vibe of this table. I love the petals and berries she’s scattered between the vases too.

No Plates on the Winter White Tablescape
You’ll have noticed that there are no plates on this winter white tablescape. As I’ve done a few other times (like A Red and Yellow Table Setting – Soft Beautiful and Relaxed and A Beautiful Blue and Gold Thanksgiving Table Setting,) she left them off because dinner was going to be served directly from the kitchen, already plated.
I do love a beautiful plate stack, but there’s something to be said for a gorgeously uninterrupted table. In this case, it completely adds to the open, airy feeling of winter.

The Place Setting
So that leaves us with the rest of the place setting. Cory said she found these beautiful silver napkin rings at a thrift store for some ridiculous price, and couldn’t pass them up. I wouldn’t have either!
But if you want the look and don’t want to spend time hunting for another thrift store miracle, they’re very similar to some at Williams Sonoma that I’ve linked below.

The lovely flatware is a family treasure, and the water glass is from Riedel, our favorite wine glass maker. There are also no wine glasses set on the table, because we’d already been using them during the appetizer round, and would bring them to our places when we sat down.
I love how this table is practical, as well as beautiful! It made a wonderful evening even more wonderful!
Have you ever sat at a table where you felt transported to a beautiful place? Tell us about it in the Comments – I love to hear from you!

I love winter whites especially with neutrals.
I have decorated my tree in all white and it always seem so restful …more so then all of the bright red/green colors of the holidays. thanks for sharing my friend.
YES! I love the restful whites after a bight holiday. And so fun when I get to sit at someone else’s table! Have fun out there my friend!
I do like winter whites and neutrals. It seems so restful after all of the bright colors of the holidays. Clearly, we’re on the same wavelength.
Absolutely! 😊 Hope your winter is starting off bright and calm!
Barbara, Cory sets a beautiful table! I love the glimmer of silver and the roses and berries are gorgeous – especially together. What a great find on the napkin rings. I popped over to WS so theirs but there is something about the patina on Cory’s that is just so lovely.
And the wallpaper is gorgeous too. I have wallpaper on the brain lately and am thinking about doing the powder room in our house. Here is my current crush (though I’ve never worked with unpasted before) and I hope the link comes through: https://www.amazon.ca/Fine-Decor-FD42948-Charcoal-Wallpaper/dp/B09PYY1V63/ref=asc_df_B09PYY1V63?mcid=562527e350b935a798e82e77db60add3&tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=706840782698&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4193126141502163909&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001328&hvtargid=pla-1732509053758&psc=1&hvocijid=4193126141502163909-B09PYY1V63-&hvexpln=0&gad_source=1
I hope winter is behaving itself where you are – we may see some double digits here early next week (likely the calm before the storm). Take care down there, my friend!
Oh that wallpaper is lovely Kim! The colors are so elegant and the pattern is so cute! I think it would be fabulous! Yes, Cory really has an eye! You might be able to find some napkin rings on Etsy that have that lovely patina already so you won’t have to wait a decade! 😊 https://rstyle.me/+CK0TdjIPxHy3xDLZ8wHEmQ Winter is barely flexing its muscle down here – it was 52 degrees F today!
So pretty Barbara! I love a winter white table! Those roses are gorgeous and I love the little pop of red!
Hi Maureen! Yes! I was totally in love with those roses and berries. I’m inspired to see if I can use that combination for my own winter white table now! Hope you’re doing well up there – thanks so much for stopping by!
