Stop #16 ~ Our Cup Goes on a Teacup Adventure with Chas
And then it was off to Colorado! Just a little over 1000 miles southwest of Kristin’s home in Minoqua.
Not only did our teacup go 1000 miles sideways, she also went over a mile and a half up! Chas took her on a teacup adventure to a beautiful lake – but I’ll let her tell you about that. Here we go!
New Friends
I was so excited to open the box and receive the traveling tea cup!
Just as an aside, looks like that box has held up pretty well on her journey to Chas. In the past, the box has gotten pretty beat up after this many trips!
She started with us in Fort Collins, Colorado where she met my family.
Awww, aren’t they darling? And congrats to the graduate!
Grand Lake ~ The Teacup Adventure Continues
We brought her up to Grand Lake, Colorado where we celebrated Thanksgiving. I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee in the mountains while reading a book with her.
I took her to Point Park which is one of my favorite spots, and happens to have the best view of Mount Baldy, and Grand Lake.
She was able to enjoy some of the amazing views.
Wow – that water looks so beautiful! Apparently this is the deepest and largest lake in Colorado! And it’s pretty cold too. I bet Chas didn’t take Tessa Rose swimming!
Colorado Wildfires
We were very grateful to be able to enjoy our small condo in Grand Lake, as it was recently threatened by the East Troublesome Fire. Within 24 hours, it became the 2nd largest wildfire in Colorado history.
We showed Tessa Rose the view from Point Park where you could see just how close the burn made it to the town.
We took a small tour to see the devastation of 200,000 acres burned. Over 300 homes were lost in this fire, and our hearts sank to see such sadness.
Oh my gosh – this is so terrible! I know all our hearts go out to everyone affected by these awful fires. And I’m so glad the town -and Chas’ condo – were spared!
Meeting Some Other Teacups
We traveled back to Fort Collins, Colorado and she was able to meet some of my other tea cups.
Oh, what beautiful cups and saucers! And how about that stand? I’ve never seen anything like that before.
And it looks like Tessa Rose got to share a muffin too!
Trading Teacups
She also met my beautiful tea cup from Barbara that I received on our amazing trip. A dream came true to meet my dear friend whom I had only seen online for the last year.
Chas and I have been in a blogging group together for quite a while but never met in person until recently. We finally met at an wonderful virus-respectful gathering with a few others from the group. You can read more about that in this tablescape post.
On that trip, I gave her the pale green teacup, above, and she gave me a lovely mid century silvery-colored one. (You might just see it in a Teacup Tuesday post sometime soon!)
I was so happy to meet Chas – she’s as amazing in real life and she is online. And her creativity is off the charts! I think she can make anything out of anything!
Upcycled Serving Tray
For instance, this serving tray was a former cabinet door!
If you want to see how she did it, you can check out this post on her website. Chas is a great teacher and shows us exactly how to do it.
But, back to our Teacup Adventure!
Teatime ~ The Traditional Teacup Adventure
My sister, daughter, and I all enjoyed a delightful cup of tea together.
Looks like they’ve been doing some Christmas decorating too!
We are so sad our time with her is up, and we are so very grateful that we had a chance to share some time with her.

Michele M / Finch Rest says
Chas hosted Tessa Rose so splendidly, Barbara. It was so nice to “meet” her sister and daughter, too.
I actually cried seeing the aftermath of such a devastating fire. It’s difficult to wrap my head around 300 pure forests just GONE. These forests keep our air pure and oxygenated – life itself – and each year we lose more and more to their fires. Praying for poor Mother Earth, who has just about had it with this year.
Heading over to Chaz’s blog now. Enjoyed this adventure of our pretty teacup. ♥
Barbara Leone says
Hi Michele! I know – the fires are awful. I’m so glad there are amazing fire fighters and first responders out there! It WAS fun to meet Chas’ family. This is such a wonderful adventure thanks to all you teacup hosts! 🙂 Happy Thursday my friend!
