Welcome to the Traveling Teacup’s next stop – meeting a new puppy!
Look at those blue eyes! What a cutie, right? But before we lose ourselves in this adorable new puppy, let’s get caught up on our teacup’s travels.
Teacup Background
If you’re just joining us here at the Traveling Teacup, you might like some background. The journey started in Portland, OR back in May with The Exciting Beginnings of the Traveling Teacup.
The first stop was pretty close to home. Since then however, our teacup has ventured quite far afield and had lots of fantastic experiences. She’s been given two new names, and now goes by Tessa Rose. So far, she’s been to all the places below.
- A beautiful Oregon farm belonging to my dear friend Martha
- The Bay Area with crafter and HomeTalk personality Cynthia Nessel
- The lovely home of Kansas City stylist Suzanne Zingg
- Teatime in Texas with Lifestyle blogger Candace McCoy
- The gorgeous Lakebay WA cottage garden of IG star Kim Robinson
- A cool So Cal family tea with small-space decorator Julie Briones
- A day of tea, art, and music with Michele at The Nest at Finch Rest
- Meeting interesting new people with Linda Defazio at Somerset Lodge
- A fun and busy detour to my dear SIL in Walla Walla
- Some VERY hot weather with Instagrammer SavvyCheri in N. Tustin CA
- A pink pumpkin party with Alicia, the talented creator of IG’s 13Tables
- Visiting the historic Phoenix estate of renovator & blogger Mary Crozier
Stop #13 ~ My Neighbors’ New Puppy
After her wonderful visit with Mary, our teacup headed back to the northwest. And now, she’s practically back home – all roads seem to lead to Portland!
Tessa Rose came back to visit my neighbors! And her stay just happened to coincide with the arrival of an additional family member. Their new puppy!
Welcome New Puppy Kodak
My neighbors’ new puppy is a Miniature Australian Shepherd named Kodak. And when they say miniature, they’re not kidding!
Let’s just say you’re a little teacup – just minding your own business, sitting on a beautiful cloth on the table. (And don’t you love their scale with a plant in it? Brilliant!)
When all of a sudden, up jumps a dog! Wouldn’t that be a little bit of a shock? But it’s probably not too scary in this case, especially since this dog is a tiny new puppy! Plus the puppy has a lovely pink bow!
It’s tempting to think from the picture below, that the cup is really oversized, but it isn’t.
Kodak is teeny! Not only because she’s a new puppy, but because her breed is super small!
Mini Australian (or is it American?) Shepherds
The Miniature Australian Shepherd is called a Miniature American Shepherd (or just MAS) these days. It seems the Australian Shepherds that were working in US rodeos in the 1960s were smaller than normal. So breeders started with them, and ended up with Kodak’s tiny breed.
You can find out more about Mini Australian (or American) Shepherds at PerfectDogBreeds.com.
Meanwhile Back on the Table …
Kodak is looking a little closer at our Tessa Rose.
Hmmmm – what’s this? A little milk in the bottom of our little teacup?
Too Hard for a New Puppy to Resist!
In goes the nose! Is that the cutest?!
And her whole face fits in there! That might be a little tickly for Tessa Rose.
Honestly, I’m going through dog withdrawal again! We had dogs and all kinds of pets when I was growing up. And even more when my boys were young.
It’s been a long time now since we had any pets, and every once in a while it just hits me. But since this cutie is my neighbor now, that might help!
The Teacup & The New Puppy
And while we’ve been talking here, Kodak has been all about sharing a drink with Tessa Rose.
Mmmm Mmmm – they look like good friends now. I bet Miss Kodak would be ok with Tessa Rose stopping over any time!
Teacup Onward!
Tessa Rose is so happy to have met my neighbors and their new puppy. Thanks so much Sue and Sonja, for being such wonderful hosts and sharing your new puppy with us! And for the lovely photos! (And PS – I want to borrow that tablecloth!)
And so, Tessa Rose the Traveling Teacup sets out once again. This time to the deep Northeast – the longest trip she’s taken yet!
I hope you’ll tune back in for her next adventure – it’s so fun to share them with you!
