Welcome to the next stop in the adventures of The Traveling Teacup – a beautiful historic estate in Phoenix, AZ!
Tessa Rose, as our traveling teacup is now known, got a lovely tour of this gorgeous two-acre property in the heart of Phoenix.
Some History Before We Visit the Historic Estate
Our Traveling Teacup’s journey started in Portland, OR The Exciting Beginnings of the Traveling Teacup
The first stop was pretty close to home. Since then however, our teacup has ventured quite far afield. She’s been to all these places –
- A beautiful Oregon farm belonging to my dear friend Martha
- The Bay Area with crafter and HomeTalk personality Cynthia Nessel
- The lovely home of Kansas City stylist Suzanne Zingg
- Teatime in Texas with Lifestyle blogger Candace McCoy
- The gorgeous Lakebay WA cottage garden of IG star Kim Robinson
- A cool So Cal family tea with small-space decorator Julie Briones
- A day of tea, art, and music with Michele at The Nest at Finch Rest
- Meeting interesting new people with Linda Defazio at Somerset Lodge
- A fun and busy detour to my dear SIL in Walla Walla
- Some VERY hot weather with Instagrammer SavvyCheri in N. Tustin CA
- A pink pumpkin party with Alicia, the talented creator of IG’s 13Tables
Stop #12 ~ Mary’s Beautiful Historic Estate
After our teacup said a fond farewell to Florida, she once again boarded a plane.
2042 miles later, she arrived at the Phoenix, AZ home of Mary Crozier. An amazing decorator, gardener, baker, painter, chicken-raiser, and home restoration expert!
Mary writes a beautiful blog called LifeAtBellaTerra.com which you’ll definitely want to read. I’ll give you the link again at the bottom, so you can pop over and read her lovely account of Tessa Rose’s visit, too.
I swiped a few quotes from her teacup story, but she tells us much more in her own post. So now without further ado,
Tessa Rose Arrives at Mary’s
The teacup arrived at our gates lovingly packaged. I can honestly say I am feeling very responsible for the care and keeping of this cup! Carefully I unpack it and feel a need to introduce this beauty to our home and life.
Oh my gosh – don’t you just love those gates? Not to mention the beautiful greenery behind them. That curving driveway promises more gorgeousness!
Starting with Tea and Donuts
To start the day, Tessa Rose tags along with me as I do my daily chores. But like for most guests, we pull out the red carpet. Such a beautiful teacup deserves a silver tea service and of course, fresh homemade apple cider donuts.
Oh and also – Mary has a store on her blog, and you could snap up this tea service for your own. That was my first instinct, but I keep telling myself I already have three of them! I don’t know – I may change my mind yet.
But aren’t these the perfect style for a historic estate?
A Trip to the Garden
Next we look in on the garden. My trusted companion and shadow, Sox wants to be part of the tea party.
Aww what a sweetie!
Next stop is the hen house to feed and water the chickens.
What would a historic estate be without a hen house? And this one is particularly darling. If I were a chicken, I’d want to live there!
It’s a bit early but a few eggs are available for gathering.
Those are such pretty eggs. And they match our teacup too!
Mary shows Tessa Rose (and us) more of this beautiful historic estate in her blog post. Remember, the link will be at the end.
The Art Studio
Next we head up to my art studio. A recent request from a friend to donate one of my paintings for a charitable event is a bit of a surprise.
I need to pick one, frame it and hope someone will want to buy it!
Tessa Rose keeps me company throughout the day. She is by my side as I write more blog posts, pay bills, sort and organize mail and pack for a trip out of town.
Day is Done
After a busy day, and in the true Mantel and Table tradition, I thought I would try my hand at an evening cocktail with tea as an ingredient.
(Mary’s referring here to M&T readers’ ongoing ‘Cocktail in a Teacup’ conversation in Comments, and specifically, THIS post.)
Using my brother and sister-in-laws’ honey, chamomile tea, gin and fresh lemon juice, we make the Birds and Bees.
Mary has the recipe for this wonderful cocktail in her blog post. Yet another reason to go visit!
Goodbye to Mary and Her Historic Estate
With a long day behind us, Tessa Rose is washed and packed away for her next adventure to Portland, Oregon. Bon Voyage, Tessa Rose!
Huge thanks to Mary for sharing such beautiful photos of Tessa Rose on her equally beautiful historic estate! I love everything about this story!
And Then .. Practically Back Home!
And our Traveling Teacup sets off again – back to her home town. Actually, her home street – she’ll be visiting my very next door neighbors!
