The Teacup Travels

The adventure started just up the road at my dear friend Martha’s lovely Oregon farm. Then down to the Bay Area to see creator and HomeTalk personality, Cynthia Nessel of CreateWithCynthia.com.
Next was a cross country trip to the beautiful home of Kansas City stylist, Suzanne Zingg at Suzanne Zingg Style. Borger TX was next, for a lovely relaxing picnic with Candace McCoy, owner of the Lifestyle blog UnfoldingBeautiful.com. (Candace officially named our teacup Rosie, which I thought was fun, as Suzanne had privately called her that too!)
From there, our cup went to the gorgeous Lakebay WA cottage garden of Kim at ShiplapAndShells.com. Rosie got another name from Kim, who called her Tessa! A perfect combination. I wonder if she’ll get any more names as she continues her travels?
Then it was on to So Cal to learn how to make friends and keep cool with Julie of MyWeeAbode.com.
Stop #7 ~ Michele’s Beautiful Home In Ohio
And now, with a little whoop dee do of excitement, our teacup travels across 2259 miles to Powell, OH. The furthest east she’s been yet!
Her host in Powell, is Michele – a long-time blogger, artist, musician, cook, decorator, tablescaper, gardener – and more – at FinchRest.com. Her blog is beautiful and eclectic, and she knows her tea! The Nest at Finch Rest boasts over 200 tea posts! So it was only natural that our teacup felt right at home!
Being the wonderful blogger that she is, Michele also wrote a post about our teacup travels. You’ll want to hop over there for the whole story, but I’ll let her give you a little taste here first!
A Floral Visitor
Oh, how I have looked forward to this new friend’s visit!
Welcome Tessa Rose, a lovely teacup that has been a very busy traveler!
And she has made her way visiting many wonderful places prior to making her trip here to Ohio.
Tessa Rose is a “morphed” name given to this pretty teacup. She’s been Tessa, and Rosie – so I put the two together.
Because of her travels TR was a wee bit tired, so she politely asked that we simply share a pleasant cool respite…away from crowds and worries-to just have a quiet and peaceful visit.
Tea in the Zen Room
So we spent some time in my shady “Zen Room,” (my DIY backyard-facing covered patio.) I LOVE when friends visit here with me!
Even in the unbearable summer heat, I do enjoy my tea hot at tea time. Truth be told it wasn’t even necessary to use my pretty tea cozy though! (It just wanted to be part of the action.)
Sounds to me like they had a wonderful tea! Michele also served homemade zucchini bread, using the harvest from her garden. She even gives us the recipe in her blog post – I can’t wait to try it!
Our Teacup Travels Back Inside For Music
After our teatime and garden visit, she asked to go inside and hear me play piano for her. I told her my piano was made the same year I was born. ( I guess that makes us both very old classics.)
Tessa had a request for “Tea for Two.” As she was my guest, I had to oblige her.
Oh I love Michele’s beautiful piano! It was one of the first things I noticed and loved about her blog!
We both giggled when I played her “Chopsticks”on my grand daughter’s wee toy piano. We both agreed it was painfully out of tune!
Ok, isn’t that the CUTEST!!? I mean, really!
Remember When I Said Artist?
TR mentioned she really admired my most recent painting, the one with all the colorful flowers.
I told her that I appreciated her flattery, but I am only a beginner painter and still just learning.
This painting is so pretty and fun! I wonder if Michele takes commissions? Maybe one with our teacup in it … ?
An Antique Tea Bottle With History
I showed her my little antique bottle from the Grand Union Tea Company. It’s the perfect size for a single cut Hydrangea bloom.
And the perfect bottle for a teacup to sit near.
Michele also gives us some history on the company that made this darling bottle. If you’re like me, you’ll love the backstory in her post!
A Wonderful Day
So as our wonderful day together was coming to an end, we went out back one last time to water the hydrangea and daisies.
Tessa liked the deep shadow she made towards the end of the day, just before the sun went down.

Our teacup is headed back west again – to Gladstone, Oregon – just about 10 miles from me! I know she’ll have another wonderful time!

I so enjoyed reading about Tessa Rose’s visit to Michele and her lovely home. I was fortunate to have met Michele at a tearoom in Oho, with my late beloved mom and my sister. Just wanted to comment and tell you how much I enjoyed reading about Tessa Rose’s travel to Ohio. I loved the story MIchele put together and think it would make a lovely book.
