What do you do with a gorgeous big armload of beautiful flowers? Decorate your mantel of course! I was at the store and could not resist the siren call of these beauties! The soft lovely pink of the roses, the delicate purple blush of the tulips, the dusky round eucalyptus. I just had to bring them home!

But now – how to use them? I couldn’t decide – I had so many ideas! So, I thought I’d just start in and see what happened!

Little Galvanized Bucket
My first idea was to put them all in this little galvanized bucket I had gotten a long time ago.

The bucket (and its lid) was originally supposed to keep a stash of birdseed out by the feeders. Convenient, no? Well, no. The raccoons or somebody figured out very quickly how to open it, and then it rained. You can guess the rest. So the darling little bucket was just waiting to be used for something beautiful.
I looked all over and couldn’t find this exact bucket for you. But here’s something very similar:

For my mantel, I was thinking something reasonably minimal and open feeling. A fresh airy look for spring. So I used a couple silver candle holders (in keeping with the bucket.) Also, some lovely champagne mercury glass ones. These are beautiful, and so amazingly light! They’re some of my very favorites.

My grandma’s vintage mirror has that delicate open work at the top, so that seemed a good fit. Plus the darker color lent a little weight to my basically light colored mantel.

I really liked the way it turned out! But then I just had this bee in my bonnet to try another idea.
Cut Crystal Vases

Something a little more glam.

Like cut crystal vases maybe! (Ok, they’re really water glasses, but hey, they hold flowers too!)

Actually, these are some of my favorite water glasses ever! I use them all the time. Not only for gorgeous flowers, but for water glass gorgeousness at the dinner table too!
You can find these lovelies here:

I decided to use all the same elements, just change out the flowers! As you can see, it’s a whole different look! Even though they make a lighter, more elegant mantel, they still have the airy spring feeling!

And with the candles lighted, it’s lovely romance all the way!
But by this time, I was getting into the spirit of the experiment! I had yet another idea for yet a different way to decorate the mantel!
Lush Garland of Flowers

Isn’t there something so lush and beautiful about a garland of flowers? They always remind me of a garden of nymphs and fairies – a bed of roses! So I made my own little bed of roses!

Once again, a whole different look for the mantel, while still using all the same pieces.

This is rich and opulent! Luxurious abundance that’s still bright and springy.

Whenever I decorate with flowers like this, I put the stems in flower tubes to keep them fresh. Tulips particularly, go through water pretty fast. So be sure to check and refill every day in order to keep your garland prettier longer!
You can get tubes here:

I just loved all the different looks I got using the same flowers, candles, and mirror! And it was so fun to play around with them. There are always so many options to make your mantel gorgeous!
Here’s another pink flower option – this time for a tablescape. It was in the fall, but you could leave out the pumpkins and have a lovely spring table!

Have you ever made more than one arrangement of the same flowers? If you have, tell us what you came up with! And if not, what do you think? Comment below – I’d love to know!

Bev! Thank you so much – I’m honored! And I’ll definitely stop over. I try never to miss Thursday Favorite Things! ๐ Hope you’re doing well over there, and thanks again! See you in a few!
I would be hard-pressed to settle on just one design. All three have their merits and are lovely.
I was also noticing your mantel wall, Barbara. Is it a limewash finish? It looks old-world and beautiful.
Thanks for sharing at the FWF party.
Hugs,
Rachelle
Hi Rachelle! That wall is kind of funny – that’s what we got when we removed the layers of wallpaper years ago. We kind of liked it, but have never been able to decide exactly what to do with it, so it’s just stayed this way! It definitely needs some patching and trim, but we’ll see what we actually end up with – hopefully this summer! So glad you like it. ๐ And you’re so welcome – LOVE Friday with Friends!
Absolutely Gorgeous, Barbara! And of course, I had to feature your beautiful post at this week’s TFT Party! Thanks for sharing with us!
Happy Spring!
Theresa

Hi Barbara, all your styling choices are beautiful! I love the galvanized bucket…but I have to say my favorite was the flower runner ๐ And great tip about the flower tubes!!! Beautiful post my friend
Oh thank you – I’m so glad you liked it! I just loved all those flowers and as you know, it’s so fun to play with them! ๐
Sooo fun!!! Each season brings new colors and styles…love all of them!
Me too! ๐
They are all so beautiful! If I had to choose one, I think my favorite is the galvanized bucket… something about those drooping tulips, metal + soft roses that captured my heart.
Hi Tana! I’m so glad you liked them! I think the bucket was my favorite too, and a prettier way to use it than its original purpose! ๐ Thanks so much for stopping by!
This is beautiful Barbara! I love the pink roses and eucalyptus in the galvanized bucket! I lined the mantle with big pink roses when my daughter was married at a winery a few summers ago. It was gorgeous! Thanks for another great post and for the inspiration. ๐ (Darn raccoons with their opposable thumbs! lol)
Ha! Isn’t that the truth with those raccoons!? I bet your daughter’s wedding mantel was beautiful – I’d love to see pictures of that sometime! Thanks so much for being here Terri! ๐
