Pink Flowers & White Pumpkins! A Fresh Fall Tablescape

Pink flowers and white pumpkins – do those really go together?  I think YES!

Here’s a light and lush fall tablescape you can create using pink flowers and white pumpkins that is totally fall and also totally fresh.

It’s full-on fall here in the Pacific Northwest and I’m so loving the white pumpkins! I got a whole bunch a while ago and am using them as many different ways as I can.

I really love the traditional fall colors of gold, copper, green, and of course cream, but I was in the mood for something brighter.

Bunches of white & pink flowers draping over the white sideboard. Soft focus silver urn and mirror in the background.

So off I went to my favorite florist.  She was just unpacking several bunches of beautiful seeded eucalyptus when I got there, and I snapped them up!  I also found a few different shades of white and pink flowers – carnations, alstroemeria, baby spray roses, and tulips.

Eucalyptus garland draping over the edge of the table. White tablecloth, pink flowers, white pumpkins for the centerpiece.

A very lightly textured white tablecloth made a nice clean background for the garland of eucalyptus.  I started at one end of the table and let the branch hang over the edge for a pretty cascading effect.  Then I just laid the remaining branches on top of the preceding stem until I got to the middle.

Repeat on the other side, and you’ve got a beautiful relaxed garland to nestle your pumpkins and pink flowers into.

(Warning though: Be sure your branches and flowers are dry, or put a waterproof table pad under your cloth.  We’ve had some nasty surprises along those lines that take a lot of polish and elbow grease to fix!)

Since I wasn’t planning to keep the centerpiece on the table overnight, I didn’t use water tubes.  Cut flowers like these will last a long time without water, which makes it so easy to tuck them in exactly where you want them.

These were on my table for over 6 hours.  I gently picked them out while we were clearing the table after dinner, and put them in water.  They’re still beautiful and going strong three days later!

Table from above. White tablecloth, eucalyptus, pink flower, white pumpkin garland down the center, and (6) silver, pink,& cream placesettings.

Next was a medium sized white pumpkin in the middle of the table and a little one on each side for the center of the garland.  That was really all it needed to invoke the autumn ambiance I was after.

Silver candlestick & mercury glass votive in the garland. White pumpkins on the left, pink flower on the right.

Candles were the final touch.  I snuggled some silver mercury glass votives in along the length, then added two silver candlesticks for height.

I got these silver candles for another project a while ago that I didn’t end up using.  But they were perfect for this table!

In fact I really liked this brand – they didn’t drip at all!  They also didn’t have a fragrance, which is really important at our house.  (You don’t want to mess up those lovely wine aromas!) White candles would also be pretty if you didn’t happen to have any silver ones around.

Super closeup of plate stack. Cream & pink flowered china w/silver rim on silver charger.

For the place setting, I used some basic silver chargers, and my favorite pink flower china.  I chose this pattern when I was barely out of my teens, and I still love it!  The cream of the plates matched the cream of the pumpkins exactly, which was a happy coincidence.

The lovely sleek silver napkin rings were a gift from a beloved friend!  They add some shine and a modern, tailored look to the otherwise romantic feel of the table.  I love the contrast.

Instead of matching the tablecloth, the napkins are a delicate blush.  They draw the color of the pink flowers outward, and tie into the plate stack for a cohesive look to the whole table.

Lovely silverware on either side of the plate stack. Delicate handles w/lacy cut-out and rose at the end.

I’ve had the silver even longer than I’ve had the china!  My dad gave me a hope chest when I was 15, and I was so excited to be collecting beautiful things for my “Someday” home!

My parents gave me something new to put in it almost every year, and one holiday Mom gave me the first pieces in this set.  Over the years she added to it, and when I got older I started adding to it too.  Now I have enough for everyone in a medium sized dinner party to have matching silver!

I’ve always washed it by hand, but I’ve been hearing recently that lots of people put their silver in the dishwasher.  Apparently they’ve been doing it for years with no ill effects, and no need to polish.  I’m going to try it!  If you try it too, let me know – we can compare research!

Until then, Happy Fall!  I hope you have a chance to make your own pink flowers and white pumpkins tablescape!

  1. What a beautiful setting, Barbara! The florals and white pumpkins and stunning china work so pretty together.

  2. So pretty, Barbara! And I love your pretty china with this pink and white fall tablescape!
I am totally on team white pumpkin 🙂 While I occasionally succumb to traditional fall colors, my home decor plays much more nicely with the white and green pumpkins – and I’m a steadfast fan of holiday decor that works with your interior design choices!

    1. Hi Janet! We’re definitely on the same pumpkin team, and I totally agree about coordinating with your interior design! It’s a good thing there are so many different pumpkin color options! 🎃 Thanks so much for stopping by, and Happy October!

  3. Silver in the dishwasher?!??!??! I’d be terrified to try! Oh, my! I guess if a lot of people have had success with it, though, it’s doable! I’m too much of a scaredy cat!🙀

This is beautiful! I love pink in October. It goes so beautifully with the other fall colors and represents Breast Cancer Awareness. What’s not to love?🤷🏽‍♀️ You did an amazing, amazing job with this tablescape!

I still have my Hope Chest. It is in one of our guest bedrooms. I have memorabilia in it now. Weren’t those a wonderful thing, though? So much fun adding piece by piece over the years! I remember getting something Ralph Lauren that I put in there and how proud I was to finally have it. Cannot for the life of me remember now exactly what it was!😂

    1. Ha – yes, the hope chest memory fades long before the linens! 🤣 I still have mine too, and it’s holding clothes I swear I’m going to fit back into someday … ! 😆😆 I did a silver-in-the-dishwasher test way back then, but eventually decided against it for everyday. Not sure if I was imagining it, but the shine seemed to dull a little more each time, and I’ve pretty much given it up unless there’s really a lot of silverware to wash and it’s really really late! Fancier machines and/or detergent may make a difference too, but I don’t have the equipment for that test. So glad you like the table – I figure pink flowers are good in any season! Hope you’re doing well down there, and Happy Q4!

  4. This is so lovely Barbara. You’ve done it again. Wedding china should be timeless & you’ve done well. I love all the delicate touches throughout the table and the draping seeded eucalyptus is perfection. XO- MaryJo

  5. Your tablescape is absolutely gorgeous, Barbara. it’s fun to change things up a bit……and that table is so feminine and is a perfect way to start Autumn. Especially since it’s been a warmer one. It just screams “have the gals over for a tea luncheon!” Doesn’t it???

Happy first day of Autumn, dear lady.

    1. Oh thank you so much Michele! Yes, it does look perfect for a tea luncheon – that’s a great idea. 🙂 How are things with you? Is your daughter still making soap? I might have to pop over there for some early Christmas stocking shopping! 🙂 Take care, my friend, and Happy Fall!

    1. Thanks so much Jenna! I’ve been thinking about you lately because I’m in the mood for fall cooking and you always have such great recipes! Time to hop over to your site for another round of inspiration! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping over – Happy Thursday!

  6. Beautiful table Barbara, all of the pink flowers, greenery and white pumpkins whisper autumn in the loveliest way. My sister had the pattern Noritake Shenandoah for china. Always a favorite!

    1. Hi Rachelle! I still love that pattern after all these years – so fun that your sister has it too! whisper is the word. Fall is a hard season for me to transition to, so the gentle introduction of pumpkins makes it easier! 🙂 Hope you’re having a lovely week. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  7. Your china pattern is beautiful – how wonderful that you chose it so young and still love it! I love the look of the fresh eucalyptus with the pumpkins – the center garland is amazing!

    1. Hi Janet – I’m so glad you like it too! I almost chose another china pattern but at the last minute my fiance decided he could live with flowers after all! 🙂 Whew! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  8. Barbara, yes, pink and white pumpkins definitely go together! Your table looks amazing. I love how you draped the eucalyptus over the end of the table. The pink flowers are so pretty with your china – a match made in heaven, so to speak. I hope you had a lovely dinner!

    1. Hi Kim! I set this table a couple years ago – in fact it was my first real foray into tablescaping with pumpkins! 😉 I love those white ones! Hope you’re doing well up there! Take care and thanks so much for stopping by!
