Hi All – we have a Beautiful Valentine’s Table Setting Blog Hop for you today! I’ve joined forces with twenty wonderful tablescapers – hosted by Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate – to bring you a myriad of Valentine’s tablescape ideas.
If you’ve just come from the lovely Andrea at Design Morsels, I know you’ve been inspired by her beautifully simple Valentine’s breakfast table!
At the end of this post, I’ll link to the next stop on the tour, and all the others too, if you’d like to skip around.
So with that, here we go with my offering – a beautiful Valentine’s table setting with red and copper!
Flowers for Inspiration
My tablescapes are often inspired by flowers. Either from the garden, or the grocery store. Occasionally from a local florist, or through one of my favorite online flower growers.
Let’s say I’m just minding my own business, strolling through the produce aisle, when I see a gorgeous flower display! Immediately, I imagine a tablescape, and I’m off and running.
Sometimes, I love to do an intricate flower arrangement – like this one for instance. And other times, I love to just keep it simple and elegant with one type of flower by itself. Just like these gorgeous red tulips that called to me the other day.
Red for our Beautiful Valentine’s Table Setting
With the florals decided, I moved on to the next step, which for me, is planning out the other colors. I love Valentine’s Day, and this year I felt like something extra springy. Like red and bright white along with our cheerful tulips.
I have these Ralph Lauren red damask napkins that went beautifully with the flowers.
As often happens, a very few items actually make the biggest impact for the color scheme. The only reds are the flowers and napkins, but the overall vibe of the table is red. I love how simple it is to create a particular look without much fuss.
And Copper
Our table does have a springy look. However, it’s still very cold and rainy here, so I wanted something warm as well. Copper fit perfectly – it’s always so cozy!
I love my old pitcher for flower arrangements. I got it at someone’s garage sale years ago. Old copper isn’t quite as easy to find these days, but there’s still some out there if you look.
And I’ve found some beautiful new copper online. For instance, I love this pitcher from Amazon, here: Copper Pitcher. It isn’t lacquered, so it’ll soon get that lovely patina.
Besides the pitcher, the other copper was these lovely hammered chargers, which you can get here: Copper Chargers.
(Ha – doesn’t that napkin look a little like bunny ears!? Maybe this table would work for Easter too!)
Which brings us to the beautiful Valentine’s table setting itself.
Gold Flatware and Napkin Rings
Since I didn’t have copper everything, I brought in some gold – matte and mercury glass. I liked the look, and was happy with the way the copper and gold worked together.
I’ve said several times, that I’d love to have some copper flatware. But I admit, I haven’t looked too hard for any yet. I’m still pretty enamored with my relatively new matte gold set. I got it from Amazon here: Gold Flatware.
And I’m just crazy about these lovely napkin rings – they’re actually made from spoon handles!
We have a big Saturday Market here in Portland, and the Spoonman has been there since I was a teenager. (It might be Spoon Man Jr by this time!) I’ve had these for more than 15 years, and they’re still beautiful!
White China for a Beautiful Valentine’s Table Setting
I’ve been using my lovely Haviland Ranson pattern white china so much lately. I just got it recently, and if you’re interested, I’ve talked about the fun way I got it here and here.
Usually, I use different colors or patterns in my plate stack. But I’m really loving the plain white with the scalloped and raised edge. It gives a bit of texture, while letting the other elements of the table do the talking.
My Favorite Wine Glasses Again
If you’ve been around a while, you’ve heard me tell you about my favorite Riedel wine glasses. (Ok – several times, maybe.) They’re not only sleek and lovely, but they really do enhance the aromas and flavors of the wines.
Riedel makes several shapes and sizes to showcase various types of wines. And while we don’t have a ton of different glasses at our house, we have what we consider the basics for the main wines we drink.
These big wide-bottomed ones are the Pinot Noir glasses. And they get a fair amount of use on our tables!
I love the champagne flutes too. These are made by Stolzle, and are awfully nice for the price. Here they are at Amazon: Stolzle Crystal Champagne Flute.
Candles for Beautiful Valentine’s Table Setting Ambiance
I do love candles on a table, especially when it’s a potentially romantic evening! I also love mercury glass, so these are a perfect combination! These exact pillar candle holders aren’t available anymore, but I really like these as well: Gold Mercury Glass Pillar Candle Holders.
And these little votives are great for flicker down at table level. They come from Amazon too: Gold Mercury Glass Votives.
The Foundation of a Beautiful Valentine’s Table Setting
I’ve only come around to tablecloths (except white linen ones) within the last few years. We didn’t use them while I was growing up, and I guess I just never realized how much fun they would be!
But I’m making up for that tablecloth lack now, with a two-for-one. This tablecloth we have under our beautiful Valentine’s table setting is actually inside out! (The front side is a deep red, gold, and blue paisley design, which I love. You can see it in action here and here.)
But one day, I was looking for a lighter, pinkish patterned cloth. I realized I didn’t have one, but then just happened to notice the underside of my old standby!
If you scroll down in this post, you’ll see both the inside and the outside at the same time!
And On To Dinner!
So there’s the table. Now, time to plan the dinner! Maybe something with a mustard cream sauce. Maybe a raspberry salad. And of course – something chocolate for dessert!
Thanks so much for joining me this Valentine’s season. Keep scrolling for more!

Barbara Leone says
Oh Niky – aren’t you the sweetest!?! Thank you so much! I’m sorry I’m so late getting back to you – we’ve been without power because of the snow and ice in the PNW! But hopping over to your site now to catch up! Thanks again and see you there!
CoCo says
This is such a beautiful tablescape, Barbara! I love the festive red tulips you chose and how you incorporated all the different layers of metal too. It’s really pretty together. You always inspire me to use more candles too. No matter what the occasion they make the best ambiance. Hope your Valentine’s Day weekend is a special one, CoCo
Barbara Leone says
Thanks so much CoCo – you always inspire me too! Sorry I’m so late getting back to you – we’ve been without power for a couple days, but back now! Hope your Valentines was great too!

Michele Morin says
Those tulips are brilliant, and I love all the pink and red at this time of year.
Barbara Leone says
Thanks so much Michele – I like the bright Valentine’s colors too – it’s so grey here in my part of the world. They really do brighten things up! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Sandra @ Dinner at Eight says
Barbara, I love your elegance of simplicity. Or is it the simplicity of elegance? Either way you’ve designed a beautiful table, one that can be enjoyed any day of the season. There’s a booth at an antique mall I’ve frequently gone to that features only copper items, most vintage, some newer. I’ve been tempted many times!
Barbara Leone says
Oooh – that sounds like a great place to shop – hope you get to treat yourself someday! I like the elegance and simplicity combo! 😉 Thanks so much for the description, the comment, and for being here! It’s so fun to share our dinner tables with each other!
Kim says
Beautiful table Barbara. Love the match between the napkins and the gorgeous tulips, and all the different metals. What a clever idea to turn the table cloth inside out to get the paler color you were going for. Love, love the napkin rings!
Barbara Leone says
Thanks so much Kim! Those napkin rings are so fun – plus they’re fun to stack and play with at the table! That always seems to amuse us between dinner and dessert! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by, and Happy Weekend!
Rebecca says
Barbara, I love the combination of red and white for Valentine’s Day. Adding the copper accents definitely provided the warmth you were looking for. I’m crushing over that tag sale copper pitcher…the patina is gorgeous! Your tulips and napkins are a perfect color match, too. I’m also admiring the dainty scalloped edges of your new Haviland china. It’s so pretty, that I’d be using it all of the time as well 🙂 It was fun hopping with you. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Barbara Leone says
Hi Rebecca! I love that old copper pitcher! Isn’t it fun when something like that can pull your whole table together? Thanks so much for popping over – it’s always fun to hop with you! 😉 Hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day too!
Shannon@ Belle Bleu Interiors says
Barbara, I absolutely love your table! Is is so gorgeous, and there is something so pretty about simple red tulips in a pitcher. They make such a lovely statement with no other flowers needed! I’m swooning over the copper pitcher, and I love all of the pretty mercury glass and other metals you have introduced into the setting. The whole tablescape is just beautiful! I hope you a wonderful rest of your week, sweet friend!
Barbara Leone says
Aww Shannon – thanks so much my friend! I loved yours too! Aren’t these hops of Chloe’s fun? So nice to be sharing another one with you! Take care and have a wonderful Valentine’s!
Marsha says
Barbara, I love how you incorporated so beautifully all of the copper into a Valentine’s Day tablescape. I don’t see much copper in my area, it is truly hard to find. It makes for a lovely vintage look to your table, especially the pieces that have a patina to them. The spoon napkins rings are such a lovely touch and contrast to the shiny contemporary gold flatware. Your use of fresh tulips to your table is stunning and impressive. There is nothing better than using real, fresh flowers to a table and I am so glad that “the bouquets speak to you” when you are at the store. I hope you enjoy your lovely romantic tablescape. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Barbara Leone says
Hi Marsha! So glad you like it! Unfortunately for my wallet, those store bouquets speak to me way too often! But I do love fresh flowers! 😉 It’s so fun sharing this hop with you! Hope you have a wonderful February and Valentines!
LA CONTESSA says
LOOKS LIKE YOUR READY!
Barbara Leone says
Ha – I totally am! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Pam Richardson says
Barbara, I love tulips because they have a mind of their own and they look so pretty on your table. The red damask napkins and red tulips offer that great pop of Valentines red. Mixing metals as you did is creative and pleasant to my eye. Reversing the tablecloth was a great idea. Happy Valentine’s Day my friend!
Barbara Leone says
Ha – I know! They do have a mind of their own, and it’s so funny how they continue to grow once you make your arrangement! You should see them now – they’re totally trying to take over the world! 😉 I’m so glad you like the table Pam – and so glad you to be sharing this hop with you! Take care and Happy Valentines to you too!
Sandra Garth says
Copper/Pink is a great color combo and I will keep this in mind for future tables. Your pitcher is quite a find and I will be looking for more copper when I go out thrifting again. I will also pay more attention to the underside of my table coverings, thanks for the tip.
Barbara Leone says
Hi Sandra! I always keep my eyes open for copper too when I’m out – which I admit has been less often lately! Ha – let me know if you find any good undersides to your tablecloths! 😉 So nice hopping with you! Take care and Happy Valentines!
Calypso in the Country says

Linda Primmer says
Beautiful combination. i love copper and I do have a copper pitcher, along with the copper chargers. The tulips are a favorite. I call them dancing tulips as they look like they are dancing. Mercury glass is another favorite. The pillars and the votives add some ambiance. A pleasure joining you on this fabulous blog hop.
Barbara Leone says
Hi Linda – I’m with you on the copper! I used to have a whole ton of it back in the day, but I’m slowly building my collection back. I love the dancing tulips too! 🙂 I’m so glad I got to join you on Chloe’s wonderful hop! Happy Valentines!
Happy Haute Home says
Love the copper touches! So pretty! What a fun blog hop! Heading to check the other out!
Barbara Leone says
Oooh – you’ll love everyone’s tables Denise – so fun to see so many different Valentine’s ideas! Hope you’re having a good February so far!
Debbee M says
Barbara, I love the soft patina of the unique copper elements with the reds in the tulips and napkins. So romantic a setting! Crushing on those napkin rings! Your Havilland really perked my attention as I inherited what survived of my husband’s great grandmother’s china. Like yours, it has the scalloped edge, but with a different embossed rim decoration. I have searched in vain to identify the pattern as there appear to be countless Havilland white scalloped edge patterns. Hoping one day to identify it so I can find a few matching fill-in pieces.
Barbara Leone says
Hi Debbee – that’s so cool about your Haviland – have you used it in any tablescapes on your blog? I’d love to see what it looks like. It’s always so fun to research but I know it’s frustrating if you don’t get anywhere. Good luck with the hunt! 😉
andrea says
I knew you would have a fabulous table for Valentines day. I love the red tulips with the copper. So simple and elegant. So fun hopping with you today!
Barbara Leone says
Aw thanks Andrea! I’m excited to go see what you’re up to too! 😉 Take care my friend – see you in a bit! 💕
Rita C at Panoply says
Your tulips draping, as only tulips do, are a natural and eye-catching star of your Valentine tablescape, Barbara. I like the earthy feel achieved in using the copper metal mixed with gold and silver on the table. The spoon handle napkin rings are terrific! Using your tablecloth inside out is creative, giving the tabletop a subtle pattern that actually makes the damask pattern of the napkins stand out, I think! Very original! Happy February, Barbara, it was a pleasure to be in your company on this first tablescape of 2021!
Barbara Leone says
Hi Rita – I love drape-y tulips too. They kind of make everything a little more casual and friendly. Glad you like the inside out tablecloth! I find myself using it more that way these days! 😉 So nice sharing this hop with you – Happy February to you too!
Carie says
Beautiful color combination! Can’t wait to gather some items of my own! As always thank you for sharing!!
Barbara Leone says
Thank you so much my friend! We’ll have to go shopping and gathering someday when you can walk again! Love you!!
Jenna says
hi Barbara! You had me at tulips, they are one of my very favorite flowers, I just adore the way they move and “dance” around! They are gorgeous with the copper chargers and pitcher and the red napkins with the spoon napkin rings are gorgeous! Using your cloth’s underside is very brilliant, I have used the backs of placemats before, and now I need to check the undersides of my tablecloths! I love your mercury glass candlesticks with the drippy candles, it’s all so lovely…
Barbara Leone says
Hi Jenna – I love the dancing tulips too – what a great way to describe it! 😉 Ha – I hope you find some good undersides of your tablecloths! 🙂 Take care and hope you have a happy week!
Ann @Corner of Plaid and Paisley says

Barbara, I love tulips! They add a happy element and drape so naturally and look beautiful in your lovely antique copper pitcher. I agree the patina of your copper pitcher is charming, The damask napkins look lovely on top of the white plates and copper chargers. I like copper all year round, especially with red and white.
Delightful to blog hop with you.
Barbara Leone says
Bonnie! I love tulips too – they always make me think of spring, even in winter, just like copper! So nice to hop with you too, and hope you have a lovely week!
Maureen Reynolds says
Barbara, you had me at flowers!! Are you sure we weren’t separated at birth!! I love the simplicity of the tulips in the stunning cooper jug! I also really enjoy the mixed metals you have used. Your spoon handle napkin rings, what lovely treasures. I find I am always needing to get creative with table covers and turning yours wrong side up was a genius idea. It just gives that hint of colour that really compliment your pretty napkins! Riedel wine glasses are always a good investment, and that reminds me to use mine on my tables more often! Happy Valentine’s Day! It is a pleasure joining you today.
Barbara Leone says
Ha – Maybe we were separated at birth Maureen! We obviously love the same things! 🙂 Your site is lovely – so glad we get to share Chloe’s hop! Have a lovely day and Valentine’s!
Cecilia says
What a pretty table! Love the tulips and silver accents! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Barbara Leone says
Thanks so much Cecilia! You can’t go wrong with tulips right? 😉 Take care over there!
Chloe says
Barabara , Your table is lovely. the idea to use the tablecloth wrong side out to get the pinkish color you wanted was brilliant. Perhaps is I had your lovely white china, I could have pulled off my all white table like I was going for. Tulips are such a lovely flower displayed all by themselves as demonstrated on your tabletop. Thanks for joining in our Valentine’s hop!
Cindy says
Barbara, loving this table with the tulips. The copper pitcher is gorgeous and you’re right perfect for winter for warmth.
Live your spoon napkin rings. I made some from a collection I have from my grandmother. Makes them extra special.
Cindy
Barbara Leone says
Wow – you made some napkin rings?! Very cool – they would be super extra special! Thanks so much for stopping over, Cindy – so glad you like copper too! Have a great day over there!
Barbara Leone says
Too bad we don’t live closer so I could have loaned you all the white dishes you could have wanted! Your table was gorgeous btw! 😉 Thanks so much for hosting this great hop – I love sharing with all you lovely ladies! Happy Hop Week!
Rachelle says
Barb, your fabulous copper pitcher, napkin rings and the softness of the underside table cloth and tulips pair together beautifully. That was really smart to flip over the tablecloth. If we just looking at things from a different perspective it sparks the creative mind. Love that!
The new amazon pitcher will have a beautiful patina over time. I look forward to seeing you use it in other tablescapes.
Barbara Leone says
Ha – so glad you like it Rachelle! Amazing what you can think of when you don’t want to buy something new! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by my friend!
Kari Rogers-Miller says
So pretty Barbara, tulips are one of my favorite flowers. The copper pairs beautifully with your red and white. Sometimes it is the simple things in life that gives us pleasure and I adore the spoon napkin rings. i also love your ‘used” candles….keeping it real.
Happy Valentines Day!
Kari
Barbara Leone says
Kari you are so right – the simple things are sometimes the best! And I’m so glad you like the candles! I’ve gotten wax all over so many tablecloths, that I just put tea lights in the old pillars! 🙂 I get the drippy look without the drips! Thanks so much for stopping by – take care out there!
Mary says
Beautiful Barbara! I love your pairing of the red tulips, napkins and copper accents. Your pitcher has such a gorgeous patina. Your mercury glass votives and pillars complement your copper beautifully too. So happy to join you at the table and hop with your again. Happy Valentine’s Day. ♥
