A Beautiful Blue and Gold Thanksgiving Table Setting

Happy Thanksgiving my dear readers – and welcome to our blue and gold Thanksgiving table setting. I’m so grateful to be able to share a little bit of our Thanksgiving with you!

Besides the blue and gold, there’s a lot of copper here too, so this table really glows. Especially when the sun goes down and the candles are lit. There’s a mix of both daylight and evening photos in this post, so you’ll get to see it both ways.

I’m not usually one for the traditional orange, but these little orange pumpkins on the table felt just right this year. The mix of different colored pumpkins and leaves, plus the cooper and gold, really said fall to me, especially with the blue linens.

I also don’t usually leave my table set for more than a few hours on either side of a dinner party, but I loved this blue, copper, and gold table so much that I’ve had it up for weeks. We used this same theme for our fall party, and it’s our blue and gold Thanksgiving table too!

Things That Are Different Than Usual

Outside of the two unusual things I mentioned above, we have another few unusual things about this blue and gold Thanksgiving table. One is that I only set the chargers, no plates on top. (I did the same thing last summer with this red and yellow tablescape.) I usually only do it this way when I’m serving directly from the kitchen.

But in this case, the tablescape came first, and I ended up planning to serve buffet style because I liked the look of all that charger real estate so much! The copper, gold, and blue were so lovely that I didn’t want to interrupt the vibe with my white plates. Plus, the reflections off the chargers are just gorgeous! I didn’t want to take any of that away.

Another thing that’s different than usual, is that I combined the place cards and menus. There’s only one piece of paper per place setting, and it has both the guest’s name and the menu on it.

I had a fun time cutting out the leaves! If I’d have had a Cricut machine or something, I’m sure it would have been a lot faster, but I was having a good time, and there were only eight of them. It was acually quite meditative.

You can see from the menu that we’re not having the traditional turkey, but we are stuffing the birds!

I felt really lucky that I found some paper that matched so well with the chargers.

The Blue and Gold Thanksgiving Table Centerpiece

I think the thing that really makes this table swing is the centerpiece.

Oddly, it’s one of the very few I’ve ever done that doesn’t involve flowers, but it’s so fall! I found the little pumpkins at the grocery store, and I had the maple leaves and pinecones in my collection already. In fact, I think the pinecones came from my mom. She had an amazing collection of craft materials!

But the crowning touch for me was these lovely coppery faux pumpkins.

They came in a pack of seven, in several sizes from pretty big to these tiny little ones*. They add such an elegant tone to the table, and brought the copper sparkle into the centerpiece.

Plus, I used the larger ones in various vignettes around the house and the porch. You can see some of them on the cabinet in the upper left part of this picture, way back there.

The Place Setting

Since I didn’t set plates out, the place settings themselves have fewer elements than usual. The chargers, we’ve already discussed, and the flatware and glassware are definitely worth a mention.

I have copper flatware I could have used, but I loved the contrast of the gold with the chargers and the general tone. Plus, they matched the candles.

The glassware is my regular strong-as-steel cut crystal water glasses. I’ve talked about these so many times, but I just love them, and they’ve lasted and kept their beauty for years!

The wine glasses were a vintage store purchase many years ago, and the sherry glasses were my grandmother’s. They’re so beautiful, and they’re especially great for this table, because they catch the light and really add to the glow!

The Full Blue and Gold Thanksgiving Table Effect

And here’s the finished table, ready to welcome guests! I don’t often show the whole room in my posts, (mostly because this room is in desperate need of a refresh,) but I thought the table looked especially pretty with the candles lit and twilight starting outside!

And with that, I’ll leave you to enjoy your own Thanksgiving, if you’re celebrating today.

I’m so grateful that you’re here, sharing tables and food and all things Home Entertaining with me! It means more than you could know!

Take care till next time –

  1. Barbara, the blue is so pretty and really makes the copper and gold pop. I love how shimmery the table is especially in the candlelight! The centerpiece is beautiful and I love the pop of orange from those sweet little pumpkins – the copper ones are darling too. The stemware is gorgeous of course, and how cool are your grandmother’s sherry glasses? The name card/menu on the the leaves is brilliant (the menu sounds delicious) and I absolutely love the shot of the dining room. Refresh?? I hope you have (or maybe had by the time you read this) a wonderful Thanksgiving my friend!
