Beautiful Copper and Pink Tablescape for Fall
I’m having a small love affair with a couple items in my collection, and I just couldn’t resist setting several tables with them – the first of which is this lovely copper and pink tablescape!

The items in question are my new flax-colored table linens, and my copper chargers and flatware. I’ve always loved copper, and I’ve always loved neutrals, so I guess it was fated that someday I’d put them together and fall in love! (I might have done that before too, but my memory isn’t so great these days! Anyway, falling in love again is the best! Psycologists even say so!)

So this is the first of the Linen and Copper trilogy – Copper and Pink! Here we go!
The Pink and Copper Tablescape Inspiration
In the right light, copper can be quite rosy, and that’s where the idea for this particular color combination came from. As longtime readers may remember, I often end up taking pictures outside as the sun is starting to set. The light is always so beautiful, and sometimes it reflects off whatever metals I have on the table. In this case, it was the sun breaking through the clouds and turning the chargers pink.

I still had the dried corn tassles in the vase and foam that was part of this month’s Dinner Party Plan, (though the rest of the flowers were long gone.) I decided some pink flowers would look lovely with them. So I added some alstroemeria, a few gorgeous soft pink roses, and some almost exactly matching spray roses.
I loved the result – so soft! And with the copper – my heart was singing!

Keeping the Rest of the Table Neutral
I loved the copper and pink together so well, that I didn’t want to put any other distracting color in the tablescape, so stuck with my white everyday plates.
Putting the napin on top of the plate, especially with the copper napkin ring, made it so the place settings weren’t too boring, or just too much white real estate.

The Individual Pieces of the Copper and Pink Tablescape
Let me show you the individual pieces of the copper and pink tablescape. They all play their part, foundational or secondary.
The Table Linens
The foundation is of course, the natural flax-colored table linens. These are relatively new, but I’ve bought from this company – Solino Home – before. I love everything about the linens themselves, the company, and everything, right down to the packaging.
The tablecloth and napkin quality is superior. It drapes beautifully, resists staining, and goes right into the washer and dryer.

It’s got lovely hemstitching around the edges, and looks gorgeous at all times!

(When I go to put the extra two chairs at the table, I’ll sweep the tablecloth to the side and loop it into the crossbar of the table, out of the way. I don’t want my guests getting tangled up in it, but it’s fun to let it drape before dinner!)

Copper Napkin Rings for Our Copper and Pink Tablescape
Which brings us very nicely to the napkin rings! I’ve had these for a while. They look great with the leaves showing, and also great if you turn them around and just see the pretty copper circle. Two for one!
The leaf motif is perfect for fall, but it works in other seasons too. They’re coated, so they don’t need polishing, and always look shiny and lovley.

Copper Flatware and Chargers Plus Glassware
The flatware and chargers are the other constants in my Linen and Copper series, so you’ll see them again soon. I’ve had them both for many years, and they’re holding up wonderfully. The flatware goes right into the dishwasher, and it’s such a fun shape. I’ve talked before about how my guests comment almost every single time I use it, even if they’ve seen it before. It’s that much fun!
The chargers are hammered, so they reflect the most possible light – so bright and glowing.

The glassware is my favorite gorgeous and indestructible cut crystal highballs. I use them, not only for cocktails, but for water almost every night. They’re the sturdiest, most solid glasses I’ve ever had. The ones in this picture are over 35 years old, and still going strong. They go in the dishwasher too.

Some Tips on the Copper and Pink Tablescape
As you can probably tell, I had to make some accommodations for spacing with our copper and pink tablescape. The centerpiece was wide, and the table was round.
A Round Table
I love a round table, but it does present its own challenges. Mine is just a little smaller than will comfortably fit four place settings if I use chargers, and these particular chargers are even a little larger than usual.
I’m pretty friendly with all my friends, so we don’t mind being a little cozy at the table. But if I had invited someone I didn’t know very well yet, I might have gone to the trouble of getting the larger rectangular table out instead. It’s nice to make sure your guests have enough room for their – and your – comfort.

Flatware Positioning
And while the flatware is all in the right place, it’s pretty close to the chargers, and is at quite rakish angles sometimes. I actually think that looks cool, but again, if that’s not how you like it, you may want to make sure you have enough room to lay things out the way you want to.

Glasses at the Edge
Maybe the trickiest of these accommodations, is the position of the glasses. Because the centerpiece was so wide, I couldn’t put the glasses in their usual position about the knives.
You can see in the overhead pictures that the flowers overhang the plates a little bit. Which was alright for the place stack – the overhang was high enough to not get in the way of eating. See the picture below – plenty of room.

But it did get in the way of the glasses. Plus, by the time I got the flatware squeezed into the space, there wasn’t room between the chargers anyway! Luckily, we were only using water glasses at this dinner, so putting them in the remaining space between the place settings worked out ok.
Again, if we’d had any additional glassware, I would have used a different table so the guests wouldn’t worry about knocking the glasses off!
But it all worked out – just one more example of how everything doesn’t have to always be to the exact letter of the table setting law! Just as long as your guests are comfortable, and that you all have fun!

Barbara, that is stunning.
Oh I’m so glad you like it Michele! Hope you’re doing well over there my friend!
This looks fabulous Barbara! I love the soft pink with the warm copper chargers and flatware. The napkin rings are the perfect touch. The flowers are beautifully arranged and yes, the flatware arranged like that does look cool. Your new linens are so pretty and that they are neutral should go with many tables. Well done my friend and can’t wait for the next one!
Hi Kim! I’m having so much fun with the new linens, and you’re right, they do go with everything. It’s pouring down rain and cold now, so that might be the last of my outdoor tables for the season. Good thing I managed those other two before the sun went away. I can’t wait to show them to you! Have a great weekend till next time!!
