Pink Blue and Purple Tablescape – Soft BeautifuL Romantic

What do you think of this pink, blue, and purple tablescape? I set it out in the backyard for a little al fresco dinner party just as the sun was going down the other night. I may have mentioned in other posts that we eat on the later side, even on weeknights, so I’m often out at sunset. I love the beautiful light that falls on the table.

It’s actually kind of the inverse of the Colorful Outdoor Table I did last year, where I just grabbed things I liked and put them together. I used the round table and hydrangeas here too but I got a whole different vibe. As well as the light, I love the soft and romantic feel of the pink blue and purple

Tablecloth for the Pink Blue & Purple Tablescape

This floral topper is really the underside of a floral topper! It’s a beautiful bright deep April Cornell rose patterned topper, but the underside is more muted – just like you’d expect. More like a faded floral from an English manor house. I’ve turned tablecloths over before for a whole different look, like in this Pink Roses + A Blue & White Tablescape. And the flip side feels perfect for this table.

It was pretty windy as I was setting this table. I tried to take some pictures that showed the wind and how it was playing with the tablecloth, but they didn’t turn out as lovely and ruffly as it was in real life. This one below I thought was particularly funny – the elusive duck-billed tablescape!

This one was a little better – you kind of get a sense of the ruffling edges. Fortunately, everything was heavy enough that the wind didn’t blow anything off the table.

Purple Flower Arrangement

As is often the case, this table started with the centerpiece flowers. We have a hydrangea bush in the yard that produces whatever color flowers it wants! And they can change as they age as well. Most of them just happened to be that pretty lavender, and I thought they’d be beautiful with the pink – some almost white – roses from the side yard. I found a little of what I think is lemon mint that was blooming, so I added a bit of that too.

I just clipped the flowers short and put them into a wide silver bowl. The hydrangeas are so big, that I didn’t need anything to hold them in. In fact, they’re so big, they cover the entire bowl – you can hardly see it even if you look for it. All the more fun for a centerpiece!

Plates for The Pink Blue & Purple Tablescape

I’ve always loved pink and blue! And this was a way different use of them than I’ve ever done before. Lots of pattern! Outside of them both being floral, any resemblance between the dinner and salad plates stops there.

The dinner plates are a beautiful Noritake pattern called Blue Hill, and the salad plates are ones I made from plain glass plates, special glue, and tissue paper! (See Do you want a fabulous solution to two classic table setting problems?! for the super-fast process and magic glue that I used to make them!)

But they look great together. Very collected, with a touch of soft vintage romance. I brought in more pink with the napkins and charger plates.

Then silver. You can’t really tell with the sunset turning everything golden, but the rim around the dinner plates is silver. Hence, the silver flower bowl and silverware. You can see in the picture below, that the napkins are almost exactly the same color as the roses. I love when that happens!

I tucked the napkins on the chargers in alongside the dinner plates. This round table is really fun, but has less surface area than my other tables, which is always really cozy, but leaves me short of table space! Still, the flowy look of the napkins adds to my romantic aesthetic.

Silver and Glassware

If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll definitely have seen this silverware before. I got my first pieces when I was 15 and I’ve added to my set ever since. It’s such a delicate rose pattern, and goes perfectly with our pink blue and purple tablescape.

The water glasses are actually wine goblets I got at a vintage store a while back.

And the champagne flutes are lovely, but more basic. I thought the water glasses were interesting enough.

So that’s it for our pink blue and purple tablescape! A romantic blend of soft soft colors!

It might be perfect for Valentines, Galentines, Easter, someone’s birthday, graduation, maybe a bridal or baby shower – really any time!

  1. Hi Barbara,
Just sending you good wishes that you feel better real soon. The flu got me Christmas Day and cancelled all my plans. Just rest and take it easy so you don’t catch anything else.
    Pam H.

    1. Thank you so much Pam! I’m so sorry you had your holiday plans disrupted – the flu never seems to care what you’ve got on the calendar! I’ve been taking it easy, and feeling better already. Nothing like some pink camellias blooming outside my window to cheer me up! Take care till next time, thanks so much for stopping over!

    1. Hey Mary! Thanks so much – this is one of my favorites too. Glad you like the tissue paper plates. Now every time I see some pretty paper, my first thought is “will it make nice salad plates?” 🤣 Take care down there my friend. I hope to be able to actually make a call someday soon!

  2. Barb I love this table as much or more as before…so sorry you are under the weather…what a bummer. Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of liquids…believe me, I am well aware of the consequences of dehydration. Spring always makes me think of the color purple and lilacs. I know the purple hydrangeas on your table bring the same effect of soft Spring hues. I admire the plate stack of beautiful Noritake Blue Hill, and how clever to make a salad plate compatible by using plain glass plates, glue, and tissue paper! Have a great and wonderful February and prayers for feeling well again.🥰🙏🏻❤️

    1. You’re so fun Kari! I’m glad you like it just as well this time – sometimes it surprises me what tables I’ve forgotten about in the course of a few months! I’m still totally in love with the tissue paper plate thing – I’m very quickly running out of plate storage! Thanks so much for the get well wishes, I’m well on the mend. Take care my friend – see you out there!

  3. Barbara, I love your table! It is everything you say it is from soft, vintagey, and romantic. I remember those salad plates – so pretty and such a good DIY idea. I love the underside of the AC topper and those vintage wine goblets are beautiful. The flowers are gorgeous! I hope you had a lovely meal at this special table. Take care, my friend!

    1. I’m so glad you like it Kim! Isn’t it fun to come up with something new from things you already have? Hope you’re having a lovely summer and setting your own beautiful tables!!

  4. Hi Barbara,
Loved the colors in this table setting.
The article that you gave a link to about adding paper tissue to salad plate was amazing to me – I never would have thought of doing that. What was really intriguing was that it all just soaked off easily! Thank you for including what was used in the article so I could click on the picture and order the glue which had a coupon to click for a $1.80 off now. That coupon was just the topper for these fingers to click “buy now”.

    1. Oh excellent Pam! You’re going to love that glue – it’s the best thing I’ve ever dreamed up then found out really existed!! 😊 An endless variety of new temporary plates! And Yaay for coupons, right?! I’m so glad you like the table setting too. Thanks so much for always sharing it all with me! Take care till next time!

  5. Barb, it took me awhile to figure out where to comment on your first email…duh! I had to go into the link first but here I am. I’m glad I figured it out because the last two posts I didn’t comment. 🥴. So sorry because I know how important it is for comments to show on our posts. I seemed to have a problem with comments not being allowed on my last post…but after enlisting family to post so I could see we …IT and me ….finally got it all together. ANYWAY, I love your romantic table…I have always liked your silverware…gives me silverware envy…and your Noritake Blue Hill dinner plates compliment all the soft and romantic hues. I believe when you got those glasses at the thrift store, you posted about it and I enjoyed reading of your lunch time thrifts. Another beautiful table…
Have a great and wonderful day.

    1. Hi Kari! I know – the technology is so confusing sometimes! I’m so glad you figured it all out though! So glad you like the table too. It’s so fun to share and learn from each other! I’ll pop over to your place and see about commenting on that last post now. See you there!
