Welcome to this year’s Valentines Day Tablescape! And besides this one, you also get 17 others, because I got to join a Valentines Tablescape blog hop! It’s hosted by Rita from Panoply, who’s not only fabulous at being a gracious host, but at gently keeping us all on track as well. Thank you so much, Rita!
Be sure to scroll to the bottom for the links to lots of other beautiful tables.
The great thing about this table is that, while it’s definitely perfect for Valentines Day with its soft colors and romantic look, you could pretty much use it any time. It’s versatile!
Valentines Day Tablescape Flowers
This Valentines Day Tablescape started like so many of my tables – with the flowers! I saw these gorgeous blushy peach roses, and couldn’t resist. And when I mixed them with the white roses and peachy alstroemeria, they looked so fresh and sherbet-y! Just what I needed after the cozy holiday sesason.
I seem to be drawn to this peachy color – I’ve done several other tables in these shades, like 4 Easy Tips for Setting a Beautiful Fall Table or Five Simple Steps to a Luxurious Fireside Table for Two. But they each have their own personality, and of course, their style changes depending on the vase and the table, right?
I also bought the eucalyptus and sweet little white flowers to add in. (Thank you Trader Joe’s!) But I still didn’t have quite enough to fill the vase I wanted to use, which I’ll tell you about in a minute. So, as I often do, I went out into the yard and clipped a few camillia branches to make the arrangement nice and full. Plus, they give it a fresh springtime look.
A Beautiful Crystal Gift
My sister-in-law, who I talk about regularly on Mantel and Table, gives me wonderful gifts, and this past Christmas, she gave me a gorgeous cut crystal pedestal bowl! It’s about 8 1/2 inches in diameter and 8 inches tall – much larger than any of the other pedestal bowls I have (some of which she’s also given me!)
It was the perfect size and height for my Valentines Day Tablescape centerpiece, and left lots of room for the eucalyptus to drape. It was tricky getting a good picture of it once the arrangement was in, but here’s my best effort.
I did a clear floral tape grid over the top of the bowl, so it was easy to hold the flowers and foliage up. Of course, you can’t see the grid, and that’s the beauty of it! I like to arrange the eucalyptus so it splits around the candles. That way, both sides of the table get to see its pretty drape.
All the Gold
The colors of the flowers brought the gold and white plate stack to mind right away. These are my basic gold chargers, and Haviland china in the white Ranson pattern. The Haviland is old, and the sizes are a little smaller than modern plates, so really nice when you want more of the charger to show. I was all about the gold on this table, so it worked out really well.
The flatware is a lovely gold too – more matte and understated than my other bright gold flatware. I’ve gone off about this set many times before, but I love it because it’s just a little bit different! (And heavy and solid and fun!)
And then we have the gold goblets. I love these too! (Isn’t it fun to have things that you love in your collection?!) These were my mom’s and I haven’t found any exactly like them, but I did find some that are very close. They’re in the Boutique Recommendations below, if you want to add some to your own collection.
Valentines Day Tablescape Linens
In keeping with my blushy sherbety color scheme, I used a white tablecloth and soft blush napkins. The tablecloth is a vintage square one with a lot of texture, which I love. As I often do with a small cloth, I laid it diagonally across the table.
Besides looking kind of cool, it also gives the table a more relaxed feel than a full size white tablecloth.
The blush napkins had just enough color to look great against the white plates.
And because I usually have my guests pick up their salad plates to get salad from the buffet, I’m ok with putting the napkin between the plates. If I was serving to the table, I wouldn’t make them try to pull their napkins out, especially with the salad on top!
Adding a Valentine to the Valentines Day Tablescape
And now for the Valentines part! In order to take this table from a pretty springtime one to a Valentines Day one, I added – surprise! – hearts!
I’m not often a big “holiday decor” person, although I really appreciate it when other people do it. But it was fun to cut out some hearts, and I just happened to have some heavy paper the same color as the napkins.
By writing my guests’ names on them, the hearts could do duble duty as decor and place cards!
So if you’re looking to try a little subtle something different this year, feel free to grab some inspiration from this Valentines Day tablescape. Let me know what you think in the Comments – I love to continue the conversation!

Barbara, I love that you placed the beautiful flowers above the table in the pedestal bowl, making a strikingly lovely cascade as the focal point for your table. The soft colors in the flowers and table elements are refreshingly cool, a nice step up from frigid winter references but not yet warm enough for spring . . . perfect for the transition between the two! The lovely gold touches add the romance. Happy Valentine’s Day

Oh my gosh Barbara – those flowers are gorgeous! You always find the best ones and the peachy/blush color combination is so pretty. The new crystal pedestal bowl is stunning and what a wonderful gift from your SIL The Haviland chine is beautiful and I know what you mean about older plates being smaller, but they look great on the gold charger. And of course your gold flatware is always so elegant. Love the tablecloth on the diagonal and the blush napkins tie everything together. The sweet little heart place cards are so creative. I hope you enjoy a wonderful meal at your beautiful table my friend, and wishing you an awesome Valentine’s Day!

Your blush and peach color combination is so pretty: I love it. I also like your pretty English style arrangement. I must say I admire that you donate to Habitat for Humanity and Proud Ground. That’s very lovely of you! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Thanks so much Ricki Jill! Those are apparently some of my favorite colors – I always seem to gravitate toward them! I appreciate the compliment from a sesoned flower arranger like you! I’ll be hopping over to your site soon for more Valentines inspiration!

Barb, I love your peach and blush and gold table setting. So pretty. I also like your clever use of cut out hearts as place cards. You did a great job with your crystal gift from your SIL as you let the vines drape down the side and I know how hard it is to get a good pic of things like that. It always looks better in person than in a photo, at least my photos. You are always an inspiration and it is fun to blog hop with you. ❤️🥰

Ha – yes, mine too! Photography is one of the often unrecognized challenges of our calling, isn’t it?! Thanks so much for stopping over – I’m so excited to see your Valentines post!
Carol says
Is the gold silverware able to be cleaned in the dishwasher?
Barbara Leone says
Hi Carol! Yes, I put mine in the dishwasher and have never had any problems. Thanks for your question, and for stopping by!

Loved the simplicity of this table setting, Barb, with its glorious flowers in peaches and whites. It’s a wonderful combination. Setting a table that can change depending on the occasion is a helpful idea. You can scale it up or down, add embellishments or keep it simple. Love the vase that holds your flowers.

Hi Lynne – Thanks so much! I can’t wait to pop over and see what beautiful thing you did for Valentines – always so fun hopping with you!
Patti @ Pandora's Box says
Such pretty colors, and a lovely centerpiece, but sadly I could not get rid of your Subcription pop up and it blocked out half of your photos and words. I will try again later.
Barbara Leone says
Oh I’m so sorry Patti! Are you using a tablet? Sometimes the size just doesn’t line up, and a phone or desktop/laptop will work better. I’ll definietly talk to my provider and get this straightened out, though – you should be able to read it on any device! Thanks so much for letting me know, and I truly apologize!
