An intimate table for two with beautiful blush and silver

Oh beautiful blush and silver and an intimate table for two!! These roses were so gorgeous, I just couldn’t pass them up when I saw them at Trader Joe’s. And I knew exactly what I’d do with them!

We have a lovely little marble table beside our living room fire place, and it’s a really cozy spot to set an intimate table for two. (You can read the story behind this table in the Table for Two – How to Make it Cozy at Christmas post.)

Silver china for our intimate table for two

I love this china! It’s the set I got for the 2024 tablescape competition, and I’ve hardly used it since. I thought this was a perfect time to get it out. The silver lace pattern is so delicate and modern in an old fashioned way, if that makes any sense.

It’s Vera Wang Lace by Wedgwood. It’s hard to tell in the pictures, but the silver is quite shiny.

The place setting is almost exactly the same as the one for the competition, with silver serving trays as chargers, and my favorite Rose Point silver.

I just love all the sparkle, and silver is so cool and fresh.

Different glassware

As you might know if you’ve been around Mantel and Table for a while, I use the same glassware almost all the time. I love my favorite crystal water glasses, and we usually use our various Riedel wine glasses. But for this table, I wanted something different. A little more modern and streamlined after the ornate chargers and china.

I bought these glasses for my milestone birthday party, and they’re so much fun! The champagne flutes are extra tall and slim – very graceful. And the little cordial glasses have such an interesting shape.

Beautiful linens on our intimate table for two

I also wanted to bring in the blush of those gorgeous roses, without detracting too much from the place settings. These blush linens are from Made on 23rd, and I just love them!

They soften the bright modern silver of the table and of course, go with the deeper blushy pink from the flowers.

I’ve told the story elsewhere of how I came to find them, and I’m still really excited every time I use them!

Elegant candle holder

Here’s another piece I don’t use as often as I’d like. But now that I’ve gotten it out, I remember how cool it is! A present from my amazing SIL, it’s a swirl of clear crystal that sends out rainbows in the light! Looks great on the table too.

The candle I put in it is super tall. I’ve been on a taper candle quest for quite a while now, and though these are a little longer than I usually use, I think this brand may have potential!

I’ll report back, but they’re billed as unscented, dripless, smokeless, AND automatically extinguishing! The only other similar candles I’ve ever found were at – you guessed it – Trader Joe’s! And only at the holidays. I used to buy as many as I could to last me all year, but they haven’t been there the last couple seasons.

So I’m hoping these will be good replacements. Plus, they’re pretty and come in lots of different colors. (It’s not really leaning that far – the camera seems to show the curvature of the earth or something … !)

And that’s our intimate table for two! It would be perfect for Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, or any time you want something a little different and elegant. Let me know what you think in the Comments – I love to hear from you!

  1. I love the detail and formality of the charger, the china and the flatware, and you were smart to keep the glasses and candle holder a little more simple. The peach linens are the perfect match to those roses; in one of the pictures, an outer petal of a rose is almost right next to the table linen, and they look like the exact same color. I am going to dig into your linked posts to catch up to some of your antics!! Last summer we went to the Indiana State Fair, and in the “Home Arts” building I found a tablescape competition! I thought of you instantly! Thank you for sharing all this elegant and welcoming beauty!

    1. SO fun! Isn’t it great to see the table setting competition? I love to see what everybody does with their themes. I went back and looked at the picture you mention, and yes it is almost exactly the same color. So many different shades in one beautiful rose. Thanks so much for stopping over Kristine. It’s always lovely to see you here!

  2. Beautiful table Barbara! I love the blush and silver and the roses are such a pretty color. Love those chargers too and your lightinng looks fantastic. I hope you and hubs enjoy a wonderful meal at your intimate table. Take care down there, my friend!

  3. Barb I love your intimate table and it would be perfect for Valentines day. I prefer a quiet evening at home to going out these days for dinner. It is funny because it is the opposite of my younger days. Not only is food better, ambiance is better ….hugs my friend.
