So there we were, at our friends’ house for the weekend, and I wanted do a brunch table setting! I’d already set a dinner table the night before, but I just never get tired of setting tables for friends! Plus, I love to see how the same plates and flatware look in different settings.
Our friends have a lovely home, and the dining room is so sunny and bright! A perfect place for a simple casual late breakfast.
So come along with me, as I take you through how I created this simple and beautiful brunch table setting!
Beautiful White for Our Brunch Table Setting
I’ve always loved pure, basic white! I’ve said it, and I know you’ve heard other people say it – a white set of dishes is the foundation of any home entertainer’s table wardrobe.
My friend’s simple, classic white pieces are the epitome of this concept. You can dress them up or down, and use them for any meal. Here, they go from an elegant dinner the night before, to a fresh, bright morning tablescape just as smoothly as you please!
The bowl is generous, and just right for cereal, oatmeal, or muesli. And the plates are lovely too. I used the smaller size here, because our “main course” was going to be small.
Classic Flatware with a Modern Feel
I used the word “classic” a lot in the Sunset Dinner post, and I’ll use it again here. This flatware is truly beautiful in its simplicity, and it has a modern feel about it that goes with anything.
Here’s a closeup of the fork.
And the knife and spoon.
Beautiful Glassware
The glasses are perfect too. Just nice glasses – nothing fancy or ostentatious about them. They feel nice to hold, and the thing I particularly like about them, is that they’re so graceful. Just a little bigger at the bottom, and the rest is slim, smooth, and elegant.
I’m sorry I didn’t get a picture of them with orange juice – so pretty!
Brunch Table Setting Linens
But the thing I really loved most about our brunch table setting is the beautiful placemats and napkins. The color!! Such a soft gorgeous cream – almost yellow, but not quite!
I’ll see if I can find some similar ones, and link them in the boutique recommendations below.
And the Flowers!
I’d brought these flowers down from Portland to give to our hosts, and they were such a lovely match with their beautiful linens! The flowers are what usually get me going with tablescaping, and our brunch table setting was no exception. As soon as I saw how lovely the arrangement looked with the placemats, I was off and running.
And it was so handy that the bowl I had them in was your basic white. (See?! White really does go with everything!) (Well, ok, not really EVERYTHING, but a LOT of things!)
So that’s our lovely brunch table setting!
Not really that much to it, but flowers, linens, and classic tableware really elevated our casual meal. It doesn’t take much extra effort to have an extra beautiful effect!
Let me know what you think in the Comments, and what you do to make a casual meal a little more fun and elegant. Thanks so much for sharing this brunch table setting with me!
