Welcome back to our next Traveling Teacup adventure and a beautiful teacup vignette – plus so much more! Our teacup is the guest of MaryJo, the talented blogger at Master”Pieces” of My Life.
MaryJo has published her complete account of their time together, from which I will quote liberally. And as always, I’ll give you the link at the end of this post so you can find out about additional hijinks they got up to! But first, let’s catch up on the story so far.
The story so far
If you’re new here and wonder what the heck’s going on, check out this post for the exciting beginning of The Traveling Teacup. What started as a photo challenge in May of 2020 has turned into a multi-year tour of cities, countries, and charming hosts!
Our little teacup was named Rosie, then Tessa, then Tessa Rose by her hosts, and traveled pretty steadily for over a year.
(She still goes traveling whenever she gets an invitation, so if you’d like to have her visit, feel free to let me know in the comments below, via the contact page, or just send me an email to barbara@mantelandtable.com.)
Tessa Rose’s three year itinerary
Tessa Rose traveled to a new place every two weeks during that first year, so our map filled up! You can see her first 26 stops in this post, the last of year one.
The map for year two and onward is below, and here are her stops since then:
- A gorgeous farm in Estacada OR, the home of brilliant blogger, table stylist, and entrepreneur Renae Frey.
- An exciting train ride to Santa Fe NM with the always fun and creative Albuquerque blogger, Jeanne Washburn.
- Amherst OH and the home of talented tea-loving Renaissance Woman and Mantel and Table reader, Valerie.
- A Stop in Ooltewah, TN over the Memorial Day Weekend to visit Lilly, a nursing professor and fellow tea lover.
- A lovely tour of Paducah KY with fabulous cook, writer, and food & lifestyle blogger Leslie Watkins.
- Montz LA for a visit with Tracie, who shared her beautiful home, even in extra rainy weather.
- Largo FL to share a great new Halloween tradition with M&T reader Corrine and her new husband.
- Historical St Mary’s City, MD as a guest of Tammy, lovely author of the White Lilac Farmhouse blog.
- Harrisburg OR to bake some delicious scones with beautiful Melody at Two Mums Takeaway Tea Boxes.
- The amazing Montana ranch of entertainer extraordinaire, Alexis, a long-time M&T reader who’s become a great friend.
- Azle TX with wonderful reader Dolle and her beautiful teacup, Dainty Rose, for tea and friendship.
Back across the country to the San Francisco Bay
From Azle to Danville on the outskirts of San Francisco, is 1666 miles. (I know I’ve said it before, but I’d sure love to be logging TR’s rewards points!)
And now, on to MaryJo’s story! I’ll only jump in occasionally. Take it away MaryJo!
The Traveling Teacup’s visit to the Masterpiece home
Tessa Rose acclimated right into the routine at the Masterpiece household and participated in all the goings on. It was so much fun to have her here.
Socializing
Like in any visit, Tessa Rose met some new friends. All the tea cups around here came out to play and introduce themselves.
Both the demitasse cup with the yellow florals and the gold footed Lily of the Valley cup were thrifted finds. I do not collect tea cups, but for whatever reason these sweet pieces spoke to me. They are lovely to use in decor vignettes for a dainty detail.
The yellow and blue floral cup is part of our everyday set from when we were first married. I only have select pieces left as a sentimental reminder. Lastly are cups from our wedding china, which I try to use as often as possible.
One of the things I love most about this series is getting to see everyone’s teacup collections! This teacup vignette is so pretty, and check out those little gold feet! But back to the action –
Crafting
Tessa Rose also jumped right in with some DIY projects around here.
Well, there she is in the mist of all the action. lol. She was super helpful and did not get in the way at all. 😉 Actually, I think Tessa Rose would look great with a little plant tucked inside.
She also checked out a furniture refurbishing project I will be sharing shortly. TR seemed to approve of all the progress.
Decorating a beautiful teacup vignette
In honor of Tessa Rose’s visit and to show her how much we appreciate our time together, we created a vignette around her. Give me any excuse to decorate something. Don’t have to ask me twice. lol.
I brought out some of my grandmother’s pieces, which coordinate beautifully with TR.
I think the porcelain pitcher and still life painting look like they belong together with TR.
Oh my gosh, isn’t that beautiful!? MaryJo has made the perfect teacup vignette. I especially love that the pieces were handed down from her grandmother.
Tablescaping
Following along with Tessa Rose’s color palette and floral design, she helped me prepare for a future tablescape and DIY project. I will be using pinks in this table design, which is unusual for me but is right up Tessa Rose’s alley. She gave me some good pointers and tips. I am so happy she was here to help.
You know I was excited to see the tablescape. MaryJo sets beautiful tables, and I can’t wait to see this one!
Another teacup vignette – enjoying the Joie d’Vivre
So….. since I am not a regular tea drinker, I asked TR if she would be ok with bubbles. She did not mind one bit, and I think she rather enjoyed herself.
Of course I selected a blush sparkling wine, which was a beautiful compliment to TR. Champagne from a tea cup? Why not! It was so much fun and the perfect way for me to enjoy some joie d’vivre with my new friend.
A sightseeing trip to the beach
I could not let Tessa Rose’s visit pass without giving her a tourist experience. The Masterpiece home sits on the East Bay Area of San Francisco.
What more iconic symbol to the city of San Francisco is there, than the Golden Gate Bridge? We took TR to Baker Beach, which has beautiful views of the bridge.
Wrapping up the traveling teacup visit
I hope Tessa Rose enjoyed her visit as much as we enjoyed having her here. Thank you Barbara for allowing us to have her and wishing her the best on her next adventure.
Thank YOU MaryJo for all the fun! You’re a marvelous host, and TR – and we – had a lovely visit!

That teacup gets around more than I do! What great photos, and what a fun adventure for all concerned. I see that it flew right over my state of Missouri. I know how to show teacup a good time, so keep that in mind for the future. 🙂
Barbara Leone says
Ha – I know, she really travels! 🤣 I think the closest she’s gotten to you was Kansas City, KS, but we’d love to have her visit Missouri any time. Just let me know whenever you’re ready and I’ll send you an email with the details. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping over Pattie – it’s lovely to see you!

Yay! Another adventure for Tessa Rose – I’m always excited to take a virtual part in her latest. Armchair travelling at its best lol. She looks like she had a lot of fun with MaryJo and that vignette is stunning! I am so glad that your new hip was a success and that your recovery has gone so well and you have no more pain – that’s the best. Take care down there my friend!
Barbara Leone says
The saga continues! 🙂 You hosts are the best – MaryJo has joined the Teacup Elite with you guys! I’m so happy you continue to follow along. And yes the new hip is fabulous! I think I’ve gotten more done in the 3 weeks since surgery than I did in the 3 months before! 🙂 Amazing! Take care up there too, and see you around the internet soon!
Dolle Downe says
Hello Barbara. I was so excited to see Tessa Rose had been off on a new adventure. And yes, I headed straight to the guest room, my tablet in hand, to tell Dainty Rose all about it. Silly, I know, but such fun since we have been missing news about Tessa Rose. MaryJo’s pictures are gorgeous! The one with her grandmother’s porcelain pitcher and Tessa Rose was dreamy. I really enjoyed MaryJo’s story and am hopping over to her blog today to check out more. Barbara, glad you’re back in the groove from vacation and wish you a full and speedy recovery with the hip – it’s a new lease on life. Enjoy and thanks, as always, for your marvelous posts.
Barbara Leone says

Jeanne! So fun that you former hosts still follow along! I hope things in Albuquerque are going great and you’re having a lovely summer. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Alexis says
So great to see Ropin Rosie/ Tessa Rose we miss her ! That lovely little tea cup was a trooper visiting
Montana in a very cold winter .
Now about that hip , back to work in two weeks this rehab nurse is very impressed .
You didn’t let me know of your surgery plans I could have been your private duty nurse and for physical therapy
we could have played with china and set tables TeeHee.
Barbara Leone says
Oh man – I should definitely have had you for a nurse – recovery would have been even more fun! 🤣 Ropin Rosie missed you too. Maybe I’ll bring her along to visit in the summer sometime – I bet your place is gorgeous right about now. (Well, anytime really, but you know I like summer!) 🙂 Thanks so much for popping by Alexis – hope things are going great with you!
Marieza says
I always love reading about Tessa Rose’s adventures — so fun! Congratulations on the new hip 😜 You seem to have recovered faster from this major surgery than I am from a measly finger injury. Good for you! xx
Barbara Leone says
Hi! I know – I wish I could travel as much as our teacup does! 🙂 I’d heard that hip recovery was relatively easy, and that’s been my experience too! I think there are lots more bones and things to heal in a finger injury, though, so I hope you’re back to wielding the tools very soon! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Jenna says
