A ridiculously easy and beautiful tablescape

Hi and welcome to one of the most easy and beautiful tablescapes I’ve ever done! I say ridiculously easy because it only took about ten minutes total to set, and it turned out so beautiful with the lovely salad plates and roses.

Storage in the dining room (or very near by)

The main reason it was so easy, is that I had everything right at my fingertips. I keep my chargers, flatware, glasses, napkins, and even candles, in the dining room – just steps away from the table.

The tablecloth is hung nearby, all ready to go onto the table, with no ironing required. And the dinner plates are in the kitchen cupboard that’s closest to the dining room. Not that I couldn’t walk an extra five steps, but it was nice that I didn’t have to! (Plus those extra steps add up.)

Easy and beautiful flower arrangements

The flowers were super easy too. I saw these beauties at the store and knew they’d be perfect for this table.

My favorite strategy is to get the vases out, fill them with water, and line them up on the counter. Then I just put a stem of the first kind of flower in each one, and repeat until all the vases are filled up!

At that point, I can see if any stems need to be shortened a bit.

I usually add some greenery next. I like to angle it to the sides so that it doesn’t stick out into the plate area too much. Eucalyptus is a great filler and adds a really graceful look to your easy and beautiful tablescape.

This is a fast and no-fuss way to arrange your flowers, and looks elegant in a relaxed and casual way.

If I have extra flowers, I put them in a vase – or in this case, a pitcher – and put them on the buffet or somewhere we can see them during dinner. As you can see, not a ton of fussing here either. The interest comes from the different styles of roses.

A small break to think about Christmas!

Mantel and Table Academy just released a new course about how to make gift-giving so much easier and more fun! Here’s what students are saying:

This course is fabulous! Itโ€™s jam packed with practical tips, ideas and suggestions. There are money saving tips too – so many that youโ€™ll probably save at least what youโ€™ve paid for this course. I learnt so much about planning and preparing for buying the perfect gift. If you love making your friends and family happy then buy this course. You wonโ€™t regret it!

~Natasha Crowther

I was not sure how much I would learn from this when I ordered it, but I really enjoyed it. I watched the whole course in one day. Lots of information given. Thank you for the downloads, logs, and templates which I know I will find useful.

The plate stack for our easy and beautiful tablescape

For this stack, I used my basic gold chargers, and white dinner plates.

There’s a secret to the salad plates, that you can find out about in this post.

Flatware and glasses for our easy and beautiful tablescape

I love the shape of this flatware. And it’s nice and weighty too. Very fun to use.

Because it’s a nice rich gold, it warms up the table along with the chargers and candlestick holders.

The glasses are my old standbys, the cut crystal water glasses that are really highballs, and our Riedel wine glasses. We were having my favorite wine (bordeaux) so I got to use the ones with the shape I love so well!

Variety!

As so often happens with my tablescapes, (easy and beautiful tablescape included,) I didn’t have enough of everything to go around. I only have four place settings of the flatware, and there were only four of the black napkins available.

So I did the trick of making the settings on the ends slightly different. As always, the variety added interest to the table!

Barbara, this is a beautiful tablescape. Gold brings elegance to the table and especially lovely with black accents. Your roses make the perfect centerpiece. It is always a pleasure to be invited into your dining room and have a virtual seat at your table. Happy Weekend!

Beautiful Barbara! Its great to see your lovely salad plates in a table setting – how great they look. I love the flowered pattern on the black background and it makes the color of the flowers really pop! I do what you do too with mixing napkins or plates or flatware when I don’t have enough of one. I agree with you when you say the variety adds interest to the table – it really does. The flowers are gorgeous and just perfect with the plates (I can almost smell them from here). I hope you had a lovely dinner and Happy Thursday to you!!

    Hi Barbara

I am crazy about your easy, ridiculous table (LOL). You did such an amazing job matching the different hues, I agree complimenting on set with another does add more interest to the table. Love it!
