Well, I’d have to say there’s not MUCH better than a beautiful fall table! Especially if it has bright flowers and gorgeous gleaming copper – are you with me?
Here’s the scoop on this one!
Usually my tables start with the flowers, but this table started as a spinoff from the state fair table setting competition. I bought several fabric samples for my fair table topper, and ended up not using this one. But I knew I’d use it for another table soon, and this beautiful fall table is it!
Beautiful fall table covering
I usually use a solid color tablecloth, but every time I step out of my comfort zone, I’m thrilled with the result! I guess I need to ask Santa for patterned tablecloths for Christmas! This fabric is so regal yet so approachable, and SO Fall.
We were having our wonderful neighbors over for dinner and I knew I wanted to use this fabric. It was a gorgeous day, and honestly I just wanted to be outside messing around with my copper! So I set a “sample table” first. (Plus, I needed my husband to help me move the real table, and he was out, so … )
As you can see, the topper is pretty small, so I used a very pale pink linen tablecloth for the skirt. I know we’re supposed to be relaxed these days and not care about tablecloth wrinkles.
But I’d forgotten to store this tablecloth in my usual way, so it had lots of wrinkles. I used it anyway and tried to pretend I didn’t care, since I was too lazy to do the spritz-and-dryer quick fix. Wrinkled or not, it looked beautiful with the topper.
A copper theme
If you’ve been around a while, you know I LOVE copper – maybe you love it too! A while back, I saw these darling little pans on the lovely Karin’s website, Karin’s Kottage, and couldn’t live without them.
This beautiful fall table was a perfect setting for them. Aren’t they so adorable?! I linked them below if you can’t live without them either.
And of course, if copper is involved, I love to use my old copper pitcher. I actually do polish this up every once in a while, but I really like all the patina on it.
So I had the topper and copper (hey – that rhymes!) (I know – EVERYthing amuses me … !)
ANYway, I had the those two things in mind when I went out flower shopping.
Bright happy flowers for our beautiful fall table
So many times I walk into the grocery store for some flowers, and my eye catches some other flowers that look gorgeous with them. That happened this time, and I ended up with these beautiful tulips, lilies, and daisies.
Don’t they just sing Fall?!
And I always love the eucalyptus with its lacy, wavy soft green.
The colors in these photos are so deep and vibrant, and I have to tell you, that’s exactly how they looked in real life! This was one of those times when the light was just perfect. The sun was just starting to go down on a sunny late fall day – the sky turning gold – and it was beautiful!
And a bright neutral textured place setting
Since copper was the focal point, I made the rest of the plate stack neutral. Except for some texture, of course. I got these little salad plates at Goodwill not too long ago, and they really add a nice touch of figure to the table.
Plus, white and copper are just so perfect together. I love the contrast of the clean minimalist white with the saturated color and sparkle of the hammered copper.
Then the flatware. This is the set I finally broke down and got for myself a while ago. It’s not an exageration to say I’ve been wanting copper flatware most of my adult life! I figured a couple dozen dollars was worth it after 40 years of waiting!
And it’s doing its job here, isn’t it? Blending perfectly with the vibe of our beautiful fall table. And I love the shape of the pieces – so different!
Glassware and napkins
I just can’t say enough great things about these crystal water glasses. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’ve had these forever and I think we’ve only broken one over all these years. I use them all the time, too. They’re super heavy, and always beautiful! They were gorgeous catching the sinking sun on this afternoon.
The wine glasses are Riedels, our favorite stemware brand.
I brought out both these red/maroon napkins, and some soft pink ones that matched the tableskirt to see which looked best. These won out because they were so vibrant. (The pink was lovely too, but a different vibe.)
I got 16 of these Ralph Lauren napkins for our first Christmas in this house, back in 2003, and they’re still going strong. Availability is off and on – sometimes I can get them on Amazon, sometimes on eBay or Poshmark. I’ll link to them if I can track some down.
And of course, candles for a beautiful fall table
You know I almost always have candles on my tables, and these were just right.
The flame showing through the gold mercury glass mimiced the glow of the chargers. Exactly the kind of symmetry I can get behind!
The real dinner!
So I had fun setting my beautiful fall table, and wrapped it up just in time to sit for a minute with a cup of tea, and admire the golden air. Then I enlisted my wonderful husband to help me get the dinner table out of the garage and onto the back patio. I redid the setting, for six this time, and we had a wonderful evening.
As usual, once I get going with the dinner prep, I forget to take any pictures! But at the main course, I finally remembered, and hopped up to take one. Don’t you love candleglow at dinner?
Plus aren’t those two just the cutest?!
I was just realizing that I recently did a table with almost the exact same place setting concept. The look is totally different, though! Amazing what table linens and flowers can do!
Thanks so much for joining me for this beautiful fall table! I can’t tell you how much it means to be able to share one of my favorite things with all you fellow tablescape lovers!

It’s a great thing that you stepped outside your comfort zone! The topper looks great! I am just over the moon about the flowers and the fabulous copper!!! Copper is one of those metal tones that just speak volumes! So rich!!! (I can’t get enough of those little 1/2 quart Dutch ovens. I shouldn’t have clicked on the link. Now I know how to get them, I am super tempted!) As for the flatware, you DESERVE it! As I tell my friends, you are living your best life. GO FOR IT! And the flowers….I just LOVE them! They are so pretty!!! I think you could turn just about any frown upside down with those bad boys!
The fact that you did a similar table earlier is proof positive that your brain is in the “keep it classy” zone! Well done!
Barbara Leone says
Thanks my friend! I’m crazy about all that copper – and especially the little Dutch ovens! I think they’re going to be fixtures this fall and winter. How’re your new cupboards coming? I’m dying to see how they turn out! Happy Wednesday night!

A really lovely table, Barbara! Copper anything adds such a warm glow to cooler temp tables. The flowers are stunning and are just the right colors to combine with the gorgeous table cover. I have to admit it tickles me that lilies, tulips and daisies grace your fall table since IRL they’re spring and summer flowers. Oh the delights of global markets!

TO answer your question, no there is not! I love your table Barbara. It reminds me very much of my childhood. My dad used copper all the time in his cooking. Strongly, I do not but am now motivated to buy some. Thanks for the inspiration my friend!
Barbara Leone says
Ha – Any time! 😊 I love to hear stories of your dad’s chef days – that’s so fun that he used copper too! Happy Saturday my friend!

Happy Fall. Absolutely love the tablescape and those copper mini dutch ovens are so nice, Funny you say you broke down and finally bought flatware, I did that this year as well. Very similar to yours but mine are brass/gold in colour. Gave my gold (plated) set of 39 years to my daughter and I know she is going to forget and put it in the dishwasher and lately, I see my exact same old set on a lot of the blogger’s tables. Hmmm, can I ask for them back haha?
Barbara Leone says
Haha isn’t that just the way!? I’m sure your daughter will enjoy them too, but you could invite yourself over for dinner at her house so you could use them! 🤣 So glad you like the table and the copper. It sure does look great for fall. Thanks so much for popping over. Hope you have a lovely week!
Kim says
Barbara, I saw this on my phone this morning but knew it wouldn’t do the pics justice so I had to wait till I got home from work. See? I just knew it would be gorgeous! I love the colors in the table topper and the flowers are beautiful! And with the copper they are stunning. I don’t blame you a bit for those copper pots – they look fabulous with the chargers and flatware and you’ll get lots of use from them. I’m sure your guests enjoyed their evening to the utmost at your gorgeous table! Thanks for all the inspiration!
Barbara Leone says
You are so sweet Kim! Thank you! Yes, LOVE those little copper pots – and anything copper really! 😊 We’re having a lovely fall – hope you are too, and hope as always, that you’re doing well up there! Thanks so much for stopping by – see you at another table soon!

The is beautiful Barbara. And, yeah those little copper pots are everything! It’s actually what first grabbed my eye before I started to devour every beautiful detail on your table. Now I have to add mini copper pots to my list that I never knew I needed. Lovely table! XO- MaryJo
Barbara Leone says
Haha – yes those little casseroles had me from the start! 🤣 After you have them, you find all kinds of soups and souffles and casseroles you also didn’t know you needed! 💛 Thanks so much, and Happy Thursday!

Have a lovely day my friend, and see you out and around! 💛

Oh Swoon Barbara, this table is gorgeous! I adore the color palette, and the flower arrangement is stunning! I have serious copper envy, I love to see it used for Fall tablescapes, and sadly I don’t own any. The fabric topper is beautiful and the gold mercury glass candle holders add magic! I am a color lover too, and find neutrals bland and boring 🙂 What a dreamy setting for dinner, I know your guests must have really enjoyed!
Barbara Leone says
Ha Jenna – I’d expect you to like color knowing your beautiful vibrant art! 😊 And your tables too! Thanks so much for stopping over – I always love seeing you. Happy Thursday!
diane says
I am totally in your corner!!!! I adore your ideas, your colors and your enthusiasm for the settings!
Such a blessing then, to share your table. I wish I could sit down at that entrancing table with you and lift a glass (crystal , of course)
Much love,
diane from sunny Arizona
Barbara Leone says
Hi Diane! Ha – yes crystal, of course! 💛 I think instead of you coming here, I should go there to sunny Arizona – it’s likely to start raining for the rest of the year up here soon! 🤣 In any case, we can lift our glasses in a mutual toast! Thanks so very much for being here and being a fellow table lover! Happy Fall to you!
