The Traveling Teacup Takes an Exciting Train Ride!

Our Traveling Teacup is on to stop two of year two of her travels! And what an exciting thing she gets to do this time! But before we get into that excitement, if you’re not already familiar with the Traveling Teacup’s travels, let me briefly fill you in.

Where The Traveling Teacup Began

Back in May of 2020, The Traveling Teacup began as a photo challenge, and has morphed into a very long journey! You can read all about it in The Exciting Beginnings of The Traveling Teacup.

And if you want to see the full Year One itinerary, check out this post, The Traveling Teacup Finds Herself In A Beautiful Texas Garden.

Where Year Two Began

After coming back home for a little R&R after her first year out, our traveling teacup – now named Tessa Rose – was off again! Not too far from home, and to another farm, just like last year!

  • First stop, a gorgeous farm in Estacada OR, the home of brilliant blogger and entrepreneur Renae Frey.

Stop #2 ~ Albuquerque NM

After a fond farewell to Renae, TR flew just over 1300 miles to Albuquerque NM, in the beautiful desert. Her host was Jeanne Washburn, the writer of the lifestyle blog Doodle T & Me.

Jeanne sure knows how to entertain a guest! She took Tessa Rose on a train trip to remember! Jeanne has also written a post about her visit, and I’ll give you the link at the bottom so you can get more of the story.

In the meantime, I’ll let Jeanne tell us a little about their trip, and I’ll only stick my nose in once in a while!

A Magical Train Ride for The Traveling Teacup

We have a special adventure planned for Tessa Rose. A Tea Party on the Rail Runner Train from Albuquerque to Santa Fe!

COVID had stopped the trains in their tracks…pun intended…but the trains are now on a limited schedule. We are So Ready to Enjoy a Tea Party on the Train! With Lunch in Santa Fe. Meeting a Special New Friend! Some Shopping on the Plaza!

Tessa Rose will travel with Fun Teacup Party Guests. The Table will be Set with a Cowhide Placemat to Steady the Cups on their Rickety-Rockity Train Ride. Hot Green Tea in a Glass Thermos. With Sweet Tiny Cakes. A bit of Train Glamping is the Plan!

Doesn’t that sound like fun?! I wish I could have gone too!

New Teacup Friends

We Board the Train and introduce Tessa Rose to her New Mexico Floral Teacup Friends.

Oh my – those are beautiful teacups! I’m so partial to floral prints and gold trim, and these are three beautiful examples! I love the tile roofs of the station too – just exactly what I imagined New Mexico to be!

A Tea Party for 4. Perfection! The cowhide placemat works to cradle the teacups and keep everything steady and in place.

WHOOPS! NEW COVID RULES FOR TRAIN TRAVEL ARE IN PLACE… NO EATING OR DRINKING ON THE TRAIN. MASKS ON. 6-FEET SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Oh dear! But what a lovely view, and the teacups look so cozy don’t they?

Four flowered teacups and saucers with expansive view of houses, trees, and grassland out the train window

We have a Pretend Tea Party….just like when the girls were little. 🙂

And here’s Jeanne, looking darling in her tea party mask, with proper tea party pinky extended! I’m sure Tessa Rose loved this enchanting way of seeing the countryside.

Such beautiful wide-open views!

Endless sky, desert, unpaved roads through the train window including reflection of interior

And Suddenly We’re Here – Santa Fe!

Lovely old stucco and tile roofed building with "SANTA FE" sign on front

And meeting for the first time, the special new friend. He is such a good sport – Doesn’t everyone travel on the train with a stash of china teacups?

The afternoon sweeps quickly by. All too soon we must hop on the train. Tessa Rose had a Tea-Lightful day in Santa Fe!

I know that Tessa Rose had a wonderful time exploring Santa Fe with Jeanne and company! There was a bit more to their day, and Jeanne will tell us all about it in her post, The Traveling Teacup Train Adventure Edition…Hello Santa Fe!

Thank you Thank you!

Really, thank you SO much Jeanne, for hosting our curious teacup, and for sharing your great train ride with us! It was such a fun adventure and I felt like I was right there with you! Pretend tea party and all!

You know I am a little bit jealous of Tessa Rose……I have never ever been on a train.

I have often wanted to take the train all the way to the west – it’s on my bucket list.

Thanks for a really unique and fun adventure with TR!!!

Ha! I know! In a year when we all have to stay home, she’s one of the few who gets to go anywhere! 🙂 Thanks for the always wonderful Friday with Friends!

Tessa Rose gets to have all the fun! A train ride is just what this sweet little teacup needed. Does she ever stay home and just relax in between stops?

How fun to go on a train to Santa Fe. Thanks Jeanne! I wish we had seen you without the mask. It’s hard to believe the teacup is in year two. Time is flying.

What a fun outing! I have never thought about doing a tea party on a train, lunch/shopping for the day and taking the train back home. I’m going to have to do that sometime soon. I want to be Tessa Rose when I grow up.
    Hugs and blessings to you,
    My dear friend.
