Hi All! This is a banner post for our Traveling Teacup! She’s been on the road for a whole year, and has made 26 stops! (That’s every two weeks, for those keeping track.) This stop would be 27, but I ran out of room on the map. Plus one map a year seems like a good number! For the full map of Year One, see our last post The Traveling Teacup Finds Herself in a Beautiful Texas Garden. You can see the full itinerary of her first year’s travels in that post too.
I SO want to thank all The Traveling Teacup hosts – without you, there would be no travels! It’s been so wonderful to meet each one of you!
I’m happy to have made so many new friends, especially during this pandemic time when it’s been so hard to keep up our usual activities and get togethers. The connection has been fabulous! THANK YOU ALL!!
A Little Traveling Teacup History
If you’re just joining us, you should know that our traveling teacup has had some names bestowed upon her by her early hosts. Her full legal name is Tessa Rose Teacup, but we also call her Rosie, Tessa, Rose, and even TR when the mood strikes. You can read about how The Traveling Teacup got started in The Exciting Beginnings of The Traveling Teacup.
And if you’re interested in hosting her, we’d love for you to join us! Feel free to get in touch in the Comments, via the Contact Form, or by email to barbara@mantelandtable.com.
Onward to Year Two!
I think it’s fitting that Tessa Rose is starting her second year almost exactly where she started the first – within 30 miles of my home in Portland OR. And also at another farm! She’s with Renae of Peacock Ridge Farm in Estacada OR, an amazing blogger and photographer, and a wonderful person!
Since TR was so close, I went out to Renae’s farm to pick her up when they were done. And the few minutes’ visit I had envisioned turned into several hours and plans for a collaborative tablescape. Then two! A perfect example of the joy and fun of meeting new friends who love the same things. I wish we all lived closer!
(Renae and I are each posting the first of our collaborative tablescapes on May 18. So if that interests you at all, we’d love to see you then!)
The Traveling Teacup Visits a Gracious and Lovely Farm
I’m going to let Renae tell the story of her visit. She tells it beautifully, and her photos are worth even more words!
It was such a great pleasure to see Tessa Rose arrive at my door. The first thing we did was to get her unpacked and settled. Tessa and I hit it off immediately, as we both love a great cup of tea.
Tessa and I had a wonderful breakfast on the terrace. It was such a lovely spring morning. We had a soft scramble with with chives and avocado, sausage and fresh berries, with a cup of tea, of course. It’s quite unusual to have such gorgeous weather in the Pacific Northwest in April, so we took our time and really soaked in the sun, listening to the birds sing.
Baking for a Party
Later, we made a blackberry cobbler for our guests that were coming for a tea party later in the day. In the Northwest, blackberries grow profusely – I grew up eating blackberry cobbler, it was my mom’s specialty. Now, it is my specialty.
Tessa Rose Joins a Tea Party in the Garden
As the cobbler cooled, we set up for our tea party. We set a table out in the garden. It’s one of my favorite spots on the farm, you enter through a vine covered trellis and meander along a stone covered path and past a fountain, to get to the seating area.
We used a beautiful vintage tablecoth and matching cloth napkins, vintage dishes and glassware. Also we decorated the table with one of my favorite antique silver urns with a ribbon clad topiary in it. And a birds’ nest on a vintage silver tray with a cloche atop of it. We had such a lovely time together.
Relaxing Under the Lights and Stars
After a long and delightful day, we sat out on the patio under twinkle lights. We shared another cup of tea together and enjoyed each other’s company, as the stars began to shine.
And So To Bed
Soon, our eyelids became heavy and we headed to bed. I put Tessa Rose into my Rose themed bedroom, as I knew that she would feel comfortable in there among friends. Bonne Nuit, Tessa.
Tessa Rose was such a lovely houseguest and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Hugs and blessings to you, Tessa. Until we meet again.
Thank You So Much Renae!

Barbara, I am so behind in reading posts but how exciting that you got to meet Renae!! And what a wonderful visit for Tessa Rose! I,too, cannot believe it is year two. Your Traveling tea cup was a blessing to many in year one, especially during the pandemic.
Barbara Leone says
You’re so sweet Mary – it really is fun, as you know, and having her travel during the pandemic was good since there wasn’t as much to do as usual! Finding a blogger as talented as Renae right here in my own stomping grounds has been fabulous. We’ll all have to get together someday!

Hard to believe she’s going into her second year – where did the first year go? Seems it just flew by. So happy for TR and so glad she had such a lovely visit with Renae at her beautiful farm. And no jet lag either! Here’s to year two!!!

I know – isn’t it crazy?! Ha – yes she was much closer to home this time! Hope you’re doing well up there – thanks for keeping in touch!

Isn’t that something?! Who would have thought her travels would go so long? 🙂 I was pretty impressed with Renae’s lovely patio when I was there. I was super happy to be a guest myself! Take care over there!

Congratulations on the start of year two of Tessa Teacup’s travels.
I really enjoy reading all about the great and gorgeous places Tessa gets to visit.
My Mom will soon be 98 y/o and I told her about the travelling teacup – we are English so we love a “cuppa”.
Many more visits and wonderful memories to you and Tessa!!!

What a lovely restful spot for TR! We all know how travel can tire you out. a nice restful day is just perfect.
Barbara Leone says
Hi Linda! Yes – it’s a gorgeous spot to relax! It was so funny when I went to Renae’s to get her – I really felt like I was picking up an old friend at the airport! Amazing how attached you can get to inanimate objects! But when they’re as cute as Tessa Rose … ! Well, as a former host, you know! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing the next journey!
