Hi All and Welcome to the Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by my wonderful friend Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate!
If you’ve just come from Debbee at Debbee’s Buzz, I know she shared some wonderful inspiration!
Christmas Tablescape
So for my blog hop entry, I’m sharing my Christmas tablescape from last year. I still love it! Especially, since it has roses – my favorite – and also a little something different.
Pink Peppercorn Berries
You know how when you’re walking through the flower section of the grocery, and something just catches your eye? That’s what happened with these beautiful pepperberries!
And then of course, the lovely deep red roses were the next logical step!
Pepperberries are so lacy and interesting! I love that they lend just a little bit of “different” to an arrangement. They dry really well too, although they are a bit delicate.
For a little extra color, I stuck a small spray of berries and leaves on each plate, and among the candles.
Bright Christmas Tablescape Colors
I most often use soft colors, but for our Christmas tablescape, I was in the mood for something bright. Besides, I love the way the red looks with the copper, gold, and white here.
The different shades of red in the setting and in the flowers are kind of interesting too.
Plates as Place Cards
I love place cards! They’re so fun and special. I also love things that are monogrammed. A few years ago, I discovered a way to mix two of my favorite things. Now we have monogrammed salad plates as place cards!
When we head to the table, I usually say, “Find a place setting with your initial on it!” We have LOTS of people whose names begin with the letter A, so that’s always a humorous scramble.
Besides being a really pretty conversation piece, they’re functional too! Plus, the guests get to take them home as kind of a party favor (after they’re washed, of course!)
Only a few initials are still available from Williams Sonoma, but I’ve linked some other lovely ones at the bottom of this post.

The Place Setting
Although it’s usually used a different way, I love this pretty matelasse coverlet as a tablecloth! The thickness and texture make it so warm and inviting, and the white is beautiful and classic. (You can see another time I used it in this post.)
We’ll be having some Pinot Noir, and something white, so my favorite Riedel wine glasses are on the table.
And as I very often do, I used my gold flatware and these lovely hammered copper chargers.
Along with the copper pitcher for the flowers, and the gold monogrammed plates, we’ve got a beautiful combination of mixed metals.
Christmas Roses
And just for the heck of it, here are a couple lovely Christmas rose pictures for you!
Merry Christmas!
And so we say adieu to our Christmas tablescape! But it doesn’t have to be goodbye forever! If you or someone you know would love to try this style for your own beautiful tables, just scroll a little bit further. Easy shopping awaits!

I’m not sure how I missed this table before, but it is beautiful Barbara! I’ve never heard of pepperberries before but they sure are pretty and the roses are gorgeous! Love the warmth that the gold and copper accents bring to the table and love the shot of the table by candlelight! Very pretty! Wishing you a very merry and joyous holiday season!
Barbara Leone says
You too Kim – I’m almost ready to put the Christmas Carols on the stereo! 🙂 Take care and Happy Table Setting!

Chloe says
Barbara, Your table is so lovely and classic! I absolutely LOVE using red roses at Christmas time, so this is perfect for me! The copper is such a nice warm metal for the season too. The monogrammed plates are a fun alternative to placecards. I think the scramble would be fun, at my house some people go by their first names and some by their middle names, I wonder if they could find their places! I hope you have a safe and happy holiday!
Barbara Leone says
Ha – yes the scramble IS fun! Some of those As are middle names in my family as well, and sometimes if a letter is sold out I get one for their last name, or B for brother, or something! 🙂 It’s fluid! Thanks so much for stopping by Chloe and I’m glad you like the roses too!
Mary says

Andrea says
I love your hammered chargers and the copper pitcher. It’s so pretty with your red roses. No wonder your tables are always so amazing, you’ve don’t this in competition. I am so happy to learn that exists. Can’t wait until we can get back to it in person. The copper pot you linked to is so pretty. I would never have thought I could find something like that on Amazon. It’s fun hopping with you.
Barbara Leone says
Hi – isn’t it amazing what you can find on Amazon? There’re all kinds of things you’d never dream of! We should both do tablescapes for our fairs (or wherever) next time – it would be so fun to compare all the way along! Hope you have a lovely week my friend!
Linda Primmer says

Oh thank you Linda – how sweet of you! We have such pretty roses at our grocery store, and other interesting things like those pepperberries! 🙂 Happy Holidays from one place-card-lover to another!
Marsha says
Barbara, this lovely tablescape truly brings out the romantic in me. I just enjoy red roses at any time of the year, but I favor them even more than poinsettias for Christmas. With the beautiful candlelight and the warm and textured matelasse coverlet, the tablescape is so cozy and inviting. I like how you used a bit of copper with the tablescape. It adds such a soft and elegant touch. The pepperberries are such a lovely detail to the tablescape, especially when paired up with the roses. It is such a feminine touch. The initialized salad plates are such a sweet and functional touch and is a great idea for a favor for guests to take home. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Barbara Leone says
We definitely think alike Marsha – as soon as I found those pretty berries, the rest of the table just suggested itself! 🙂 I’m so glad you stopped by, and I hope you have lovely holidays as well!

The salad plates as place cards is very creative, and I bet very amusing to watch those guests scramble. I love matelasse, whether it’s on a bed or table. Happy December, Barbara. It was nice having your company on this hop.

Barbara, I loved learning about pepper berries. They look so pretty with the roses in your copper pitcher. You blended metals beautifully and the ambiance of candlelight and lovely glassware is so inviting.
The icing on the cake is the monogrammed plates as place cards. They are clever, fun, and different!
