Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Advent Calendar episode of the Let’s Get Festive Blog Hop!
This fun hop is hosted by my friend Rachelle at My Hubbard Home, and features several fabulous decor bloggers! If you’ve just come from Rebecca at Zucchini Sisters, I’m so happy you’re joining us! Be sure to go all the way to the end to see everyone’s links.
No Advent Calendars in My Youth
When I was growing up, we didn’t really have an advent calendar. Every once in a while, a friend would give us one of those paper ones with a little chocolate behind each door. Those were definitely fun.
But I don’t have any fond holiday advent calendar memories or traditions. (I do have lots of lovely holiday tablesetting memories though!)
A Three Kings Calendar
When my boys were little, one year we thought it would be fun to do a modified advent calendar. We drew pictures of the three wise men and their journey, and added a new one each day. I’m not positive now, but I think we hung the pictures up on the wall. All I really remember is that is was fun and there were camels involved!
But I’ve always wanted one. (A calendar – not a camel!) A nice solid one that would last for years and create happy memories. I’d love finding tiny special little gifts and tucking them into the numbered drawers.
So when Rachelle asked if I wanted to do the advent calendar episode, I jumped at it! I’ve had a wonderful time looking online for a calendar to add to our special Christmas decorations.
Here are 5 of my favorites. Click on the pictures or the links below to add one to your own collection.
The White Reindeer Advent Calendar
Isn’t this one beautiful? Such a lovely snowy scene and wintery starry sky. If my family had had this one when I was growing up, I would have stared at it all day!
A Darling Christmas House
Wouldn’t this be the sweetest little house for lasting family memories? I can imagine being a child and getting this out every year. Looking at Santa through the windows, and being as excited as the boy peeking out!
The Star Advent Calendar
I’ve always loved the star with a tail! This one appeals to me because it’s got all the holiday magic, and also the cozy friendly village vibe.
A Beautiful Christmas Tree
This bright Christmas Tree is so traditional, festive and fun! It reminds me of the Nutcracker – a perfect one to have in your home for years.
A Charming Lighted Bavarian Village
And last but not least, this lighted Bavarian Village. It’s just so magical and warm. I love the design, the little knobs on the drawers, and that darling picket fence!
With so many gorgeous options, I know I’ll find one that will start our advent calendar tradition. I hope you will too!

I love the white reindeers! I only wish our advent calendars were these amazing when I was growing up.

Yes! It would have been so fun to have a beautiful familiar one that you used every year. I’m going to start that tradition now and if I ever have any grandchildren or anything, they can have it growing up! 🙂

These are beautiful advent calendars. I always had one growning up as my parents were european. We give them to our kids too, but these are a lot prettier!

I didn’t grow up with one either but they always looked fun.
My favorite is the last one.

I would want anyone of the four advent calendars gifted to me. They all have a vintage feel that adds to the Christmas spirit of long ago.
Thanks again, Barbara for joining in on the hop.

These are all lovely advent calendar picks, Barbara! My favorite is the second one because it looks so vintage. I’m starting the advent calendar tradition for the first time this year, too! There are so many advent calendar styles to choose from, both store bought and DIY. Definitely something for everyone! It was nice to hop with you 🙂
