Yes Toto, we (and our rose teacup) ARE in Kansas! The Traveling Teacup has made its third stop – the home of Suzanne @suzannezinggstyle, an amazingly talented stylist and photographer.
She and I bonded over teacups and tablescapes on Instagram, and she’s become a really wonderful internet friend. I’d love to meet up for a cup of tea in real life someday!
If you missed the background of the teacup’s journey, you can read about it, in the original Traveling Teacup post.
The first stop was Martha’s beautiful Oregon Farm. Then it was off to the Bay Area for a cozy tea party with creator and HomeTalk personality, Cynthia Nessel of CreateWithCynthia.com
Stop #3 ~ The Home of a Kansas City Stylist
And NOW – our traveling rose teacup has made it to stop #3. This was a much longer journey – about 1,830 miles!
Suzanne has written us a little travel log of their time together. I know you’ll love the story as much as I did!
The Rose Teacup in the Land of Oz
With a click of her fine china saucer our little traveler arrived in the Land of Oz. I recognized her immediately standing there at the curb of the airport, wearing her big pink rose and her little tea bags tucked up under her handle. She looked fragile standing there and I could tell she was weary after her long trip from California.
We drove through the lush green countryside to my home in Overland Park, about forty minutes from downtown Kansas City. We caught up over a cup of tea and made plans for our day together.
The Rose Teacup Goes Sightseeing
After a day of sightseeing to the Chiefs stadium, Country Club Plaza, Union Station and of course GoodWill we returned home to enjoy a glass of wine together before dinner.
Notice the bottle – that’s not just any old wine! Our rose teacup gets to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs – 2020 Superbowl Champs!!
Famous Kansas City BBQ
Visitors to Kansas City are always eager to try barbecue so I set a special table and we dined on ribs and brisket with lots of our famous KC barbecue sauce.
I LOVE this picture! Suzanne’s beautiful table is perfect for our rose teacup, and that’s the funnest way to eat ribs I ever saw! As well, I know it’s tasty because my brother-in-law tells me Kansas City sauce is great!
And So To Bed
After dinner and a warm soapy bath we reminisced over a cup of Sleepy Time Tea then it was early to bed before an early flight to Texas.
A Warm Invitation To Return
What a pleasure it was to host you, our Little Traveling Tea cup. Lone cups and saucers, stray plates and platters are always welcome in my home. In fact I was tempted to not let you leave.
If ever you find yourself homeless, you are welcome to return to live out your days here with my large family of much loved treasures.
Thank you so much lovely Suzanne, for sharing the story and gorgeous photos of your fun day with our traveling rose teacup! I feel like I’ve taken a trip to Kansas myself!
The Traveling Teacup Continues On
Our teacup has waved a fond farewell to Susanne, and is heading south again. Next stop – Texas!
