Hi All! I’m so excited to welcome you to our Traveling Teacup’s first stop! If you missed the background, you can read about our cup and its journey, in the original Traveling Teacup post.
Basically, several Mantel and Table readers volunteered to host the teacup, and document its travels! It’s going to make kind of a criss-cross journey across the country before it comes back home. I put it in the mail last week, and it didn’t have far to go for adventure – let’s follow along!
Stop #1 ~ An Oregon Farm
Stop number one was a beautiful farm in the historic town of Corbett, less than half an hour up the freeway from where I live in Portland, OR.
Our first host and photographer is my dear friend Martha, who’s been a Mantel and Table reader almost from the very start. I’ll let her tell most of the story!
The weather played a factor in the ideas. I thought I would show the teacup around the place and photograph it in various locations.
Tea on the Porch
The first day I decided to have tea out on the porch, while it was raining, and enjoy getting to know the little teacup. So relaxing!
Doesn’t Martha have a gorgeous home and property!? She’s an amazing gardener too!
Yuba joined me and helped herself to the crackers. 🙂
The sky was stormy that evening so I took a picture of it on the porch rail.
Wildflower Garden
There was a short break in the weather and I took the teacup out to the wildflower garden the next day and placed it on a mirror.
Now there’s a brilliant idea! Not only does a mirror look beautiful, but what a lovely way to keep it level and give it some room in the grass. Not to mention the reflections! I’m trying that soon!
The Traveling Teacup Moves Inside
The next night I tried taking low light pictures only using an oil lamp or candles.
I just love the mood of these indoor photos on that beautiful vintage desk! I can imagine reading by lamplight in the quiet evening, when the rest of the household has gone to bed. And ending the day with a cup of tea.
Back Out On The Farm
Today the teacup got the grand tour of the barn …
… and cow pastures.
Ok – I have to jump in here to tell you that this is my very favorite photo!! I LOVE those cows! And don’t you wonder what’s going through their little cow minds?! This is priceless!
I even had tea in the front pasture, without the cows. Fun!
This evening I will have the last cup of tea with the little traveler. 🙂

What a beautiful spot to start. I love the dog eating the cracker off the plate. I mean the teacup is beautiful, but that is so cute!

What a neat neat neat thing to do – esp since very few of us are able to travel at this time due to the pandemic.
Her story was so cute – nearly spilled my tea with the cows pic! Priceless!
If you need any more volunteers, I would be honored and delighted to be part of this adventure. I haven’t been blogging much but if you look at old posts about 75% of them are all about anything tea related. This would be just the kick-start I would need to get back to blog posting more often! ♥♥♥
