Hi All! So naturally we all love teacups for drinking tea, but how about using one for a teacup gift? That’s what we’re all about today, starting with our usual Instagram post.
Teacup Tuesday 28 April 2020
Yaay – it’s another Teacup Tuesday! I just love today’s cup. It’s so pretty – and those little gold feet! I got this from a friend of a friend via my second virtual shopping trip. Hop over to the blog to see how I used it to make a pretty teacup gift, and how you can make one too! Just tap the link in my profile or come on over to MANTELandTABLE.com. Hope to see you there!
Manufacturer’s Info
Well this is going to be a short section this week, because take a look at our teacup and saucer!
The saucer has nothing on the bottom at all! It’s a lovely flat white surface.
As for the cup itself, it has one of those metallic stickers, but the wording is all worn off. To tell you the truth, I’m always amazed that those stickers survive as well as they do! Of all the many teacups I’ve seen, this is the first one I’ve noticed that’s really unreadable.
I spent a lot of time with a very strong lamp and a very strong magnifying glass, but pretty much got nowhere. There seem to be indentations of some large block capital letters around the outside of the sticker, and some script in the middle.
I made out something – (or something something) RE – maybe O – several other letters – R – and possibly IS. The script in the middle might be “China,” but that may only be wishful thinking! If I ever figure it out, I’ll report back!
7 Teacup Gift Ideas ~ Behind the Scenes
It’s spring here in the PNW and the wisteria is out in force! We have a whole trellis full, and I just couldn’t resist using some for this teacup!
I set up my white Replica Surface panels on the little table at the edge of the “woodland” in our backyard. A little voile and some wisteria, and we’re all set!
What Can You Do With A Teacup? Here Are Some Teacup Gift Ideas!
One really fun (and nice) thing you can do is make a teacup gift for someone special.
Just fill your teacup with something the receiver likes, add in anything else you want, and wrap it up!
In this case, I put in some pretty tea bags (way at the back there,) and some chocolates. I happen to know this variety is a favorite. Then I added a book to this teacup gift. Hopefully, this will encourage my stressed friend to take a little down time!
Teacup Gift Ideas
Besides the ever-appropriate and delicious chocolates or candies, here are 7+ fun things you could put in a teacup gift:
- To welcome a new neighbor, fill with peppermints and a gift card to a local shop or restaurant. Maybe include a neighborhood contact list or link to your neighborhood website. Or cookies!
- You might give a gardener a teacup gift filled with seed packets and plant labels. Maybe include a gardening book or a catalog.
- For a graduate, fill with money. (of course!)
- For a coworker, fill with pretty office supplies like gold paperclips, sticky pads, or staples and a fancy puller.
- If you’ve got a golfer on your list, fill their teacup gift with tees, balls, markers, etc.
- For someone who’s sick, you might put some cough drops in, along with herbal tea and some preserved lemon.
- For someone who sews, fill with pretty spools of thread, a thimble, or buttons.
Then just wrap it up! As you can see from this very small sampling, the options are endless. And a teacup gift doesn’t have to be expensive! For instance, I got this teacup for $5. Yes – that is not a typo – five dollars!
When things open up again, you can find a lot of great bargains at Goodwill or a thrift shop. But even now, lots of shops are open online, or you can check somewhere like Craig’s List.
Or of course, you can always shop with Mantel and Table by clicking the Shopping link below!
Either way, I hope this has inspired some pretty teacup gifts for the special people in your life. Giving little presents is so much fun. Especially if they’re pretty as a teacup!

I just came upon your post and wanted to share my tea cup story. I was sorting through all the dish ware I had collected over the years, realizing I had much more than I needed. I came across a few tea cups and one had the pattern, Roslyn, on the bottom. My granddaughter, Roslyn, was turning 11 and I gave it to her. This teacup was collected long before she was born and I had never noticed the pattern name before. There aren’t too many things with her name so it was a wonderful surprise for both of us!

What a wonderful story Christine! I bet your granddaughter is thrilled to not only have a teacup with her name on it, but that it came from you. I’m sure she’ll treasure it! Thanks so much for sharing, and I’m so glad you found the post. Take care and feel free to share more stories any time!

I’ve only used cups as gifts a few times–usually with cocoa or Christmas candies. I make “be good to yourself” baskets; I’d add homemade soaps, sachets, and bath salts to your list of gifts, too!
Barbara Leone says
Oooh Kathy! What great ideas! I totally AM going to add the spa items to my next one. Maybe I’ll make it for myself! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by and for the inspiration!
