Sometimes don’t you just want a nice cozy tablescape? Especially if you’ve been outside or somewhere cool and you just want to relax and be warm?
As I write this, spring is just starting to bloom in the PNW. Sometimes it’s warm, but sometimes it’s still very nippy. Plus, some parts of the world are still getting snow, and some are heading into fall!
In any of those circumstances, a cozy tablescape is perfect! I love one on a cool spring evening or during a winter blizzard. Any day you need a bit of warming up!
I set this table on my staycation a few weeks ago, taking advantage of the lovely river view out my hotel window. (Which you can’t actually see very well because I was shooting my photos right into the sun. But the staycation link has some good photos!)
So here are the three little tips. We all probably do some of these already without even thinking about it. But pulling them all together makes it so much quicker and easier to set a cozy table – without a ton of planning.
1 ~ Deep Colors
I think the main thing that makes a cozy tablescape are the deep colors.
In this table, the tablecloth, napkins, salad plates, and even the flowers, are dark and rich.
2 ~ Gold Accents
And there’s nothing like gold tones to help create a warm feel. Especially against dark colors, the richness really shines.
On this table, the gold shows up in the chargers, flatware, and little mercury glass candle holders.
3 ~ And Always – Candlelight
And speaking of candlelight, flames flickering are another tried and true way to make a table setting feel more intimate. Not necessarily in a romantic way – although that’s fun too – but in a warm cozy friendly way!
Especially after sunset, candles are the finishing touch for a cozy tablescape.
And that’s it! Very easy – very simple.
Try using these three tips and let me know what you think. I always love to hear what you’re up to!

Lovely table Barbara and thanks for the tips! All our snow is currently melted here but I’m 99.9% sure that Old Man Winter is not done with us yet and I’m sure I’ll have a reason to set a cozy table in the near future! Love love the oblong vase! Happy Thursday!

Barbara,
I LOVE your oblong crystal vase! Such a great choice and those deep burgundy flowers are so pretty! It’s hard to believe we have such different weather. It is supposed to be over 100 degrees here for the next week. Luckily we are about 10 degrees cooler due to all our trees in the neighborhood…..but still….90 degrees!!!!! I’m hoping it’s a fluke and we’ll go back to having normal Spring temperatures. Love the rich colors of this tablescape. So beautiful. Also, I didn’t realize Waterford made tablecloths….again you are a dear resource.

Hi Mary – Isn’t that a great vase? It’s actually a flatware holder, but hey – who will know!? ๐ Wow – I hope you manage to stay comfortable in that heat. I’d love to trade for a bit! Take care down there! ๐
