Well it’s Teacup Tuesday again, and that must mean we’re talking about this beautiful pink teacup from Paragon China! Read on for some decorating inspiration, starting as always, with the Instagram post.
Teacup Tuesday 31 March 2020
Welcome to another Teacup Tuesday my friends! Today we have this gorgeous pink teacup and saucer, made by Paragon China over 70 years ago. Pop over to the blog to see what make-believe room this cup inspired me to decorate! Just tap the link in my profile or visit MANTELandTABLE.com for all the lovely details. Hope you ‘re all still well, and not going stir crazy yet. Take care!
Extra Paragon Pink Teacup Tidbits
This lovely pink teacup with the bright flowers made me think of decorating a tween girl’s room. The combination is soft enough to be girly, but deep enough to have some spunk!
I could see a delicate light pink linens and upholstery, as well as on the walls. Gold trimmed furniture and mirrors, with a lovely little chandelier for sparkle.
And wouldn’t accents in the bright bold colors of the flowers be gorgeous? Throw pillows, a rug, some art – all in those deep pink/salmon/purple shades. I think it would be a lovely transition for a lovely young lady!
Manufacturer’s Info
I love Paragon, not only because of their beautiful patterns, but because so many royals were interested in them! The royal family commissioned and approved many different Paragon patterns in addition to our pink teacup. And throughout many years, the monarchy bestowed several royal warrants.
Apparently though, after the first one, they started putting “Royal Paragon” on their china. Turns out that was a no-no and they got in trouble! According to an article at thepotteries.org, the warrant had very specific terms, and using “Royal” wasn’t one of them! So once they got caught, they had to remove it!
But they were within their rights to use a double warrant mark, referring to the appointments from both Queen Elizabeth and the late Queen Mary. They produced this particular backstamp between 1939 and 1949, so our pink teacup is over 70 years old!
If you want more Paragon info, head over to Wikipedia. (Where you can get lost for hours, like I just did! Be careful over there!)
Paragon Pink Teacup ~ Behind the Scenes
Ah springtime in the Pacific Northwest! Rain one minute, and sun the next! That’s exactly what we had the day I took these photos. If you look closely at a couple of the pictures, you can still see the raindrops on the grass and saucer!
We have a community garden down at the end of our street, and I’d planted this lovely flowering bush last year. I noticed the other day that it was blooming like crazy, so when the rain let up, I ran down there and picked some. The colors were so beautiful, and I thought they would complement this lovely Paragon pink teacup.
Because I was so happy that it was sunny and almost warm, I just opened the front door and found the closest patch of sunshine. Right there on the slope of our front yard. I just set everything down on the grass and plopped myself onto the wet ground. (That process did get my clothes all wet too, but it was worth it!)
I just barely had time for pink teacup pictures and a very quick little tablescape before the heavens opened again! After I got everything inside and dry, I reheated my tea and curled up on the couch to watch the rain and dream of decorating!
