Every year I set an elegant St Patrick’s Day table, and it seems like every year it gets more and more subtle!
I’m not exactly sure why this is, but maybe you like subtle too? If so, read on and check out this year’s elegant St Patrick’s Day table. (You could absolutely use this for a lovely winter table as well! Why wait for a holiday?)
Are These Roses Really Green?
The “green” flowers I found this year barely deserve the name. Just a hint of soft color, but they sure were pretty!
I got them at Trader Joe’s, which I’m so happy is within walking distance of our house. As well as the almost-green roses, they had some beautiful white flowers too. Stocks, hydrangeas, and whatever those lovely little blossoms are on the greenery.
Plus the seeded eucalyptus that I totally love!
An Elegant St Patrick’s Day White Background
Besides the fact that I think it’s so beautiful, white is a great background for your feature color. In this case, our barely green roses and eucalyptus.
I read somewhere recently that white interiors started becoming super popular with the advent of Instagram. Because white rooms apparently photograph better, they did really well on IG!
Whether or not that’s true, I love white in a house. And I love it for an elegant St Patrick’s Day table too!
Only White and Silver – And Crystal!
It was actually quite fun trying to use only white and silver on the table.
Of course, I had to put out my favorite silver flatware. And these white plates are our everyday ones. There’s nothing like basic plain white porcelain to be able to dress up or down.
I really like the plate stack too, especially with the napkin on top. Because there’s no color or pattern, you can see all the layers really distinctly, and there’s hardly any texture either. So it’s really all about the shapes.
The napkin rings aren’t that old, but they’ve developed a really beautiful patina.
I just tucked a little sprig of greenery in there to tie in with the flowers, and that’s it, as far as color goes.
Lovely Soft Candlelight
Of course, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a home in possession of an elegant table must be in want of some candlelight.
And so, I used some tall pillars for structure and some small mercury glass votives for twinkle down at table level.
More Flowers
And here are a couple more green flower photos, just to remind ourselves that this is specifically a ST PATRICK’S DAY table!
But it would work for a birthday, wedding, shower, New Years, or any other kind of table too, don’t you think?
I’d never seen this color in a rose before. I hope you have some where you live – they’re perfect for a subtle and elegant St Patrick’s Day table!

Your tablescape is gorgeous, Barbara. It doesn’t scream St. Patrick’s (you did say subtle) but it is truly elegant, neutral and serene.

Thank you Michele – I’m so glad you like it! Happy Thursday night to you my friend!

Beautiful! The Irish won’t know what hit them.
Yes, I can say that because I’ve got plenty of Irish in me – on my mom’s side;)
And lucky you that a Trader Joe’s is so close by.
We had one open up in our City about a year or so ago.
The one in Boise was always so limited in parking.
The new store has more than enough parking, but sometimes you need to wait in line to get in ;(
Please share this at the next Friday with Friends!
hugs to you,
RR

Hi Rachelle! Ha – I have a lot of Irish too! 😊 We don’t have a lot of parking at our TJ’s either, but at least it’s close enough to walk! I’ll definitely pop over to Friday with Friends – such a fun party!
