So there we were, driving home from a weekend on the Long Beach Peninsula, when my husband says “Hey, let’s stop at Brut Wine Bar!”
It’s barely 2:00pm mind you, (which is really early for him to suggest wine, btw,) and I wasn’t exactly sure where this sudden desire for alcohol came from. But I’m usually game for anything, so we turned off the main street in the lovely town of Astoria, OR and went to find it.
On our way, he explained why he wanted to stop in. Turns out that Lisa Parks, the proprietor of Brut Wine Bar, is a former colleague. She started Brut just a few months ago, and he was interested to know how she was doing.
Well, how she’s doing, is really well! You know how when you find a place you like, you want to tell everyone? That’s what’s going on here! It’s an elegant cozy little place, and I loved everything about it!
The Interior of Brut Wine Bar
First of all, the space itself is awesome! When Lisa started, it looked like this.
She built out the whole bar, and saved that lovely brick wall (which we’ll see later.) And now – just LOOK at this ceiling below! She had me at Chandelier! Not to mention the elegant panels!
Lisa has stories about so many of the wonderful pieces in here. The long glossy wood bar, for instance, came from a huge tree at a friend’s winery. (Ask her to show you the framed photo over the bar, of the tree itself.)
They had the wood planed into boards, and another friend added the lovely inlay and made it into the bar top.
I totally love the reflections!
It’s A Wine Bar Of Course!
And as you can see, there’s lots and lots of wine! And it’s good wine – Brut Wine Bar’s list is excellent. (We had two really tasty glasses on our visit.)
You can buy bottles to drink there, or to take home. Besides wine, you can get beer and cider, and if you’re snackish, snacks!
Flowers & Art
Another thing that caught my eye was the pretty flower arrangement on the corner of the bar. I know I’m going to love a place when the first thing I see is flowers! Each table had a red rose, as well.
Lisa also showcases local artists, and had paintings up the day we were there. You can kind of see some of them in the picture further down.
Elegant Cozy AND Friendly
But the thing I love best about Brut Wine Bar is how friendly it is! Even before we opened the door, I heard laughter and clinking glasses. And while we were catching up with Lisa, we chatted with the regulars and visitors, exchanged stories, and generally relaxed and had fun!
What a warm and inviting place to end our weekend vacation. I can’t wait to go back! (Next time we do go back, I’ll share the trip – Astoria is a really fun place!)
So next time you go to Astoria, stop in and enjoy a glass at Brut Wine Bar! You can find out more about it HERE – and tell Lisa we said Hi!

Ha! Isn’t it fun to find our friends in different places?! We were at TFT at the same time – looks like you posted right in the middle of my posts! 🙂 If you ever make it out here, we’ll have to go to Brut. You’d love it in person! ❤️ Happy Thursday my friend!

That sounds like my kind of place Barbara! Small, quaint and fun. We live in wine country virginia, and often visit wineries. Many are getting so big and crowded, I enjoy the small intimate ones more. Glad you had a great time.

Oh you would love it Denise! The wine list was great too – so many of my favorites. ❤️ It would be fun to compare our local wines someday – I don’t know that I’ve ever had any from Virginia. Next time you go wine touring, drink one for me! 🙂
