Welcome to the Christmas Eve Rose Chintz installment of Teacup Tuesday! As always, we’ll start with the Instagram post featuring this pink beauty.
Teacup Tuesday 24 December 2019
Happy Teacup Tuesday Christmas Eve, my fellow teacup lovers! How about this beautiful pink Rose Chintz teacup from Johnson Brothers?! In the spirit of my “old fashioned” holiday decorating this year, I’m imagining using this lovely dessert set after Christmas dinner. I’ve always loved the red and pink combination. In fact, I had a red and pink bedroom for a long time while I was growing up. This is sort of the adult version, with some copper and gold mixed in. Extra Rose Chintz Teacup Tidbits
As I mentioned above, this setting reminds me of my childhood bedroom, only much more sophisticated! For the tablesetting (which I’ll tell you more about tomorrow,) I used a lovely white matelasse coverlet as a tablecloth.
Let’s imagine a beautiful feminine bedroom, using that coverlet, tablesetting colors, and teacup as inspiration. We could have a delicate copper bed frame, and a Rose Chintz bedskirt under our coverlet. And lots and lots of pink, red, and white pillows – velvet, satin, embroidered linen, lace, and fur. And of course some with the Rose Chintz pattern. The floor would be covered with an elegant cream on white rug, and a smaller white furry area rug by the bed.
The walls and curtains would be a soft white, and the furniture would be copper and brass with white or Rose Chintz upholstery. Along with lots of brass candle holders on the mantel, we’d have a beautiful red rose and pepperberry flower arrangement in a copper pitcher.
We’d have a lovely deep chair by the fire to cozy up in, with a book, a box of chocolates, and our Rose Chintz teacup! Ah – what a way to celebrate Christmas Eve!
Manufacturer’s Info
This teacup pattern was made by the famous Johnson Brothers pottery, starting in 1930. I’ve written about Johnson Brothers’ fascinating history before in this post, and you can also get more info on them HERE.
They produced some iconic patterns, including our Rose Chintz. Even though the company itself is out of business, the pattern is still quite available. Check the Shopping page in the Teacup, and China sections.
Rose Chintz ~ Behind the Scenes
I really have to get myself some of those little teacup and saucer stands. I always end up using the dumbest stuff to hold my saucer up! This time, it was a lovely crystal swan my son gave me for my birthday many years ago. Because it’s got its back to us, you can’t really tell in this picture how pretty it is. Anyway, it did the job!
I set this table to see if it would work as a Christmas dinner setting. Then I wondered what the Rose Chintz teacup would look like with it. Turns out I really liked how the Rose Chintz teacup looked with it!
I hope you like it too!
Happy Christmas Eve my friends! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
