Here are 7 posts from the Mantel and Table archives to give us some holiday tablescape inspiration this season.

Classically Elegant
I designed this white and gold tablescape specifically for the holidays. There’s lots of sparkle, and the deep red roses are especially beautiful. Add in some winter evergreens, and you’ve got a classy – and classically elegant – setting for your guests.
Luxuriously Snowy
This is one of my favorite settings – it’s so wintery with the snowy white and silver. Once again, the greenery is simple, and white roses are always luxurious. If you treat your guests to this holiday tablescape, you might all be gently singing “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow” by the time the port is served! Well ok, maybe we should just have the port! (Although singing is really fun – just saying!)
Warmly Seasonal
My sister in law and I actually set this table at her house one summer. And although I think the pink would be very pretty, you could easily adapt it to the season. With that lovely deep green and warm gold, all you’d have to do is switch the flowers. You could go red, or white, or whatever matched your color scheme. Either way, the look would be warm and inviting.
Simply Formal
You just can’t go wrong with gold, I always say! And this holiday tablescape is a perfect way to show it off. The straight line of the candles creates an elegant formality, and your guests will feel very special. Especially with gracious place cards to elevate the setting.
Freshly Industrial
Here’s something a little different for a holiday tablescape, but I think it would be fresh and lovely. The blushy pink tablecloth, napkins, and flowers are beautiful – a softly crisp minimal setting. Your guests can celebrate the food, and being together at the table.
Glamorously Gold
On the other hand, this holiday tablescape is overflowing with bright white, glamorous gold, and sparkling crystal! It really says holiday abundance and elegant style, as evidenced by the sheer glory of glasses, flatware and plates. If you feel like cooking a multi-course meal, and want to wow your guests, this is the one for you!
Brightly Festive
And last but not at all least, we have a holiday tablescape using a slightly creative twist on the seasonal red. This was the scene of a Father’s Day Pizza dinner a while back, but it would be perfect for a holiday celebration as well. The herbs tied to the place cards give a nod to traditional holiday dishes. (Read “turkey and sage stuffing,” which might or might not be one of my favorite foods of all time!) But whatever you serve, this bright table setting will be festive and fun, and your guests will feel truly special.

The tables are all so lovely. It gave me an idea, but I don’t know if it would work. I am a member of a large women’s group. It would be fun to have a tea but there are far too many women to provide place settings for all. What if we used the church hall, draping long tables with white tablecloths and each person can bring a China place setting from home, including the napkins , crystal, and flatware ? It should be easy enough to transport just the one place setting. The centerpieces could be different color roses so they go with everything. What are your thoughts?

Lynne that would be SO fun!! You’d get to see what everybody’s china is like too – brilliant! If they didn’t have any transportable china, they might want to go to Goodwill or somewhere. You can get lovely things for next to nothing. And you’d want to have some sort of plan for washing/rinsing everybody’s dishes. Or providing paper towels and plastic bags, etc. to take them home in.
And the multi-colored roses sound fabulous! If you get any photos, send them on over – it would be great to see how your tables turn out! Thanks for sharing your wonderful idea!
