Since it’s still fall for a little while longer here in the PNW, we’ve got a lovely fall teacup for today! As always, we’ll start with the original Instagram post.
Teacup Tuesday 12 November 2019
Hi All, and Happy Teacup Tuesday! Isn’t this a perfect fall teacup? I just love the multicolored leaf pattern and gold trim. Plus I love this gorgeous fall-peach voile from @madeon23rd, and these deep red roses. We also have some more typical fall flowers and grasses in the mix, which are hard to see here. But never fear – you can see lots more in today’s blog post! Just click the link in my profile or come on over to MANTELandTABLE.com. I’d love to share this beautiful color combo with you!
Extra Fall Teacup Tidbits
Oh these colors! I’m a sucker for anything peach/blush, (as you can see in this post, if you want) and this beautiful voile really set off the fall-ness of the rust dahlias and various grasses.
If I were decorating a room around this vignette, it would be a lovely feminine bedroom. Of course, the main colors would be a warm white, and peach. I’d have filmy peach sheers, and luscious white velvet curtains. Warm hardwood floors, and a thick white rug in front of the brick fireplace. And each of my white marble tables would have vases of tall, gorgeous fall flower arrangements, including lots of red roses!
What a wonderful place to take this lovely fall teacup to relax on a cool fall day. Ahh – I’m on my way. In my imagination, that is!
Manufacturer’s Info
Well, I had a hard time finding anything on this manufacturer, much less the lovely pattern. Apparently the Spencer Stevenson company was only in business between 1948 – 1960. They used this mark early on and throughout their short life, so that doesn’t shed any light on the specific time period. (Although 12 years is a pretty narrow window compared to most!)
Although ours doesn’t have it, you might find some pieces with the name “Royal Stuart.” This was Spencer Stevenson’s trade name, and some of their more well known patterns use a Royal Stuart backstamp.
Maybe someday I’ll find out more about this relatively modern and short-lived pottery. But until then, we can admire the work they did back in the day! You can find a bit of info HERE.
Fall Teacup ~ Behind the Scenes
It was a little cloudy the day I went to take our fall teacup pictures. And if you’ve been around Mantel and Table for a while, you’ve probably heard me complain about how little light we actually get in our house!
So I gathered up a few potential photo items, and hauled them outside where the light was much better.
I started with my white Replica Surfaces background, and added flowers and a candle. That didn’t feel as warm and “fall-ish” as I wanted, so I kept going back inside and getting more things.
I got my exercise, adding and subtracting until I finally got the vibe I was looking for.
I took all my photos. And then, even though I don’t have the luxurious white and peach bedroom of my dreams, I had my tea – surrounded by the beautiful colors and flowers of fall!
Thanks so much for joining me!

Thanks so much Shannon! Besides having quite a few of my own cups, my very generous neighbor lets me borrow hers to photograph. This is one from what I’m now calling the “Neighbor Collection.” She and I are both happy that you like it! 🙂 Hope you have a great day too!
