I tried an Industrial Style tablescape and it made me happy! Read on to see if it’ll make you happy too!
My Industrial Concept
This style was actually quite a departure for me, but I love experimenting! So when my mom made me these fabulous plates, I just had to set an industrial style-inspired table.
While I was setting it, I had so much fun that I also used several of the elements in a very different way for another table. That one had more of a “Feminine” Industrial look. You can read about that one in this post.
Distressed Materials
Even though my plates were brand new, they have a very distressed, used look to them because of the mottled glazing. That and their industrial coloring are what got me thinking about this table in the first place.
Unfortunately, Mom isn’t up for making a whole bunch more, but you can get some similar plates here:
Clean Lines
Since I wanted the look to be industrial and streamlined, there was no cut crystal on this table! Our favorite Riedel wine glasses, and these no nonsense – and lovely – champagne flutes were perfect.
However, as is often the case, I didn’t have enough of those champagne flutes to go around. So for the end places, I used the next most simply-designed ones I had. They’re so pretty, and they’re also just round enough to complement the wine glasses!
You can grab the rounder Prosecco glasses HERE.
Black & White Industrial Color Scheme
As you can see from the plate stack, my concept was black and white and streamlined. Our everyday basic white dinner plates worked well between the dark chargers and salad plates.
I guess I did deviate from my industrial concept a little with the silver, but I didn’t really have any perfect flatware. Plus, I just can’t seem to do a whole table without some fanciness!
The first pieces that leaped to my mind for this industrial style table were my chalkboard chargers. I really loved the matte black when I bought them, and I knew this would be the perfect setting for them!
Also the chunky metal napkin rings. They’re great looking on the table, and so much fun to play with at dinner because they’re wide and can stand up by themselves. Great for stacking and building – always a hit with guests!
Mom also made me a bowl that matched the plates. I really love the metallic texture, and it made a perfect centerpiece bowl.
HERE’s a similar one by Juliska.
Geometric Shapes
While I used blossmy feminine flowers for my pink table HERE AGAIN, I had clean, geometric lines in mind for this centerpiece.
The white blooms match my black and white plan, and the green leaves gave it just enough color.
The shapes of the lilies were perfect too. And since about half of the blooms were still unopened, the effect was particularly geometric.
I do so love candlelight on a table – even a non-romantic industrial one! So a quartet of these small silver mercury glass votives fit the bill. More straight lines too.
Metal Utilitarian Chairs
To add a little more of the vibe to the table, I switched out our wooden dining chairs. These black metal, and very industrial looking, folding chairs matched my matte black chargers almost exactly. (They were also a little cold to sit on, so I recommend chair pads or heavy skirts!)
All in all, I was really happy with my industrial style table. What do you think? Let me know in the Comments, and if you give the concept a try, feel free to share!
Till next time my friends – Happy Table Setting!

Barbara, this table is beautiful. Yes, a bit of a departure, but isn’t it fun to experiment?| The plates and bowl that your mom made are gorgeous and the lilies are perfect (I love the unopened ones too). I hope that you enjoyed a wonderful dinner at your table and that you are having a great spring my friend. Take care down there!

Hi! Yes, it’s totally fun to experiment! I’ve been leaning minimal lately, and am feeling an urge to go maximal soon! Might be a good excuse for a new patterned tablecloth! 😊 We’re loving the Mom plates – she was so into ceramics. It’s not snowing today, so that’s a step closer to actual spring down here. So glad you stopped over. Hope you have a lovely evening!

Love it Barbara! I know you and I both like feminine settings, but sometimes it’s fun to have a change! I do think the silver was in keeping with the industrial look. Love the whole thing!
