How do you learn how to blog? You find someone to teach you! In this post I’m going to share the blog course I took to get Mantel and Table off the ground! If you’re thinking about starting a blog, I wholeheartedly recommend it!
But let me tell you about it!
First of all –
~ BLOGGING IS HARD! ~
Starting a blog is hard work! There are a million things you need to know. Maybe you know some of them already – but maybe you don’t!
I didn’t. I didn’t know any of it! Not hosting, WordPress, plugins, SEO, social media, photography, blog marketing, monetization – nada. I didn’t even know that a couple of those things existed!
All I knew was how to set a table, and how to tell you about it! I could talk about decorating all day, as most of my friends know!
But I wanted to write a blog. So I needed to learn the rest.
~ How Do You Find Out What You Need to Know? ~
Here’s the big question, though. How do you learn about things you don’t even know you need to know? (I know – that’s a lot of “knows!”)
Fortunately very early on, I ran across Abby Lawson. She has a blog called – aptly – Just a Girl and her Blog. It’s a great place for all kinds of home inspiration. Also blogging education.
~ The Ultimate Blogging Handbook ~
She had a course called ‘Building a Framework – The Ultimate Blogging Handbook.‘ I bought it.
I did a lot of research before I bought it. There are lots and lots of blog courses out there, and I had looked at a ton of them. From what I could tell, they all kind of went over the same things I already knew. (Which was precious little!)
I wanted to know which things I didn’t know.
That’s why this blog course interested me so much. It was longer and more detailed than anything I’d found so far.
It had sections for setting up your blog, branding, content, social media. There were other sections whose titles I didn’t even understand yet! I knew I’d found what I was looking for!
Honestly, I’m not sure I would have launched Mantel and Table without this course. I’d been working on the blog for several months. I was making progress, but it was very slow, and I was still very confused.
~ This Blog Course Spells It All Out ~
Building a Framework spells everything out – in order! Abby and her husband Donnie have broken down all the steps and concepts into modules. Each module covers everything you need, to understand and implement the concept. And they’re so friendly and conversational! It’s just like you’re chatting over coffee and biscuits in their kitchen. (While you’re taking notes, of course!)
She recommends resources and gives you step by step tutorials on how to set them up.
By the time I was done, I felt way more comfortable about launching my blog! And keeping it going afterward!
~ So Much Less Expensive ~
The other main reason I bought this blog course was that it was so much less expensive! Other courses I’d looked at had been several hundred dollars. And I wasn’t sure I’d get enough out of them to justify that cost.
Building a Framework is less than a hundred dollars! I could tell just from the table of contents that I’d learn enough to make it more than worth it. And I did!
I totally recommend Building a Framework! (Read more on the Blogging Resources page.) It’s such a bargain for all the information you get!
I think this blog course is so useful, and I love it so much, that not only do I recommend it, but I’m an affiliate for it! That means I get a small commission on any sales from my website. But as you know if you’ve been with me a while, I really don’t like salesy stuff. And I NEVER recommend anything I don’t absolutely love!
And I absolutely love Building a Framework!
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, or if you’re stuck at the beginning like I was – I hope you get this course! You’ll love it too!
Take care and Happy Blogging!
