I was dreaming of a white Christmas mantel – so I made one! There’s just about nothing I love better than a neutral color palette. Especially if it has sparkling silver and gold in it too! Add in candlelight, and I’m in heaven!
If that sounds like something you like too, then read on! But first …

Choosing the holiday decor
Last year I decorated our mantel with a huge, rich, luxurious forest of greenery and flowers. But this year I was feeling a little more minimal. We’ve been slowly cleaning and organizing our house this year – emphasis on slowly – and I guess that aesthetic carried over to my holiday decorating.
Try a mirror!
I usually have a mirror of some sort on the mantel. So for my special White Christmas mantel, I used my favorite gold framed rose glass mirror. It’s made several appearances on the blog, and I talked about how I got it in this post.
The base of the White Christmas mantel
So, I started our White Christmas mantel by laying a Noble fir garland across it. I let the ends hang way down – almost to the floor – for a graceful elegant look.
Step two was snugging the candle holders in. In this case, they went behind the garland, since it wasn’t too wide. I fluffed the greenery up a bit so it was nice and full, and covered the bottoms of the candlesticks.
You can see in the picture above, that I also used a few other interesting evergreens. There’s some fir, some cedar, and some with little tiny cones on it just to vary the texture a bit. I tucked them in among the Noble wherever it looked like we needed something extra.
Silver and white ribbon
The next thing was the ribbon. I use ribbon a lot because it adds color, texture, and volume all at the same time. Plus if you use a sheer one, it does all that without being too intrusive. I wanted my White Christmas mantel to be actually white! So the only really heavy ribbon is the white satin one. The other two are sheer for just a hint of metallic sparkle.
Be sure to use the wire-edged type ribbon so you can bend it around and have it stay put. I’ve worked with non-wired ribbon before, and it takes all day to get it to work with you!
The White Christmas mantel decorations
On one of our travels a couple years ago, we stopped at the cutest town, and found the cutest shops! I got these elegant sparkle branches at one of them, and I use them all the time! I love just sticking them in for an extra bit of glam.
Also, for more sparkle I added these two crystal chandelier garlands that I got years ago from Crate & Barrel. I totally love them, but I’ve never been able to find them again anywhere! However, you could make a similar one from some crystals, which I’ve linked in the shopping section at the bottom of this post.
And last but certainly not least, I hung some ornaments on either side of the fireplace. We put some hooks on the underside of the mantel, so I can hang whatever I want on them. For instance, some more gold and silver to complete my calm and minimal color combination!
Add some candlelight and a fire – maybe a glowing tree – and your dreams of a gorgeous warm White Christmas Mantel will all come true!

So pretty! I love the different types of greenery in that garland! It’s so amazing how each side drapes over the edge so long. The sparkles are so lovely! Merry Christmas!

This is a beautiful mantel Barbara! Green and white is just so classic. I love the crystal garland and the ornaments at each end. So pretty. I just checked on the ornaments but Amazon is out of stock. Bummer. But as I’m looking at them, I think I might have something similar in my stash – only in amber. I’ve already done our mantel for this year, but thanks for the great inspiration for next year! Happy Monday!
